Crimson Lake MotelBreakout ChesterEscape roomIRLNice sequel to Vacancy although if you didn't play Vacancy you'll still be fine. We escaped as a team of 3 with 5:19 remaining with only a couple of hints which felt like a good challenge level for an experienced team. The room is theme is effectively grimy and musty, sticking well to the run-down motel aesthetic. The set design is immersive enough to keep the tension up. The puzzles were very padlock-heavy. It relies more on the quantity of locks and thorough searching than high-tech interactions. Overall a great choice if you enjoy traditional code-cracking and searching.
Captain Blackheart's CurseHoudini's Escape Room Experience ChesterEscape roomIRLNicely decorated room in theme. Puzzles were mostly padlock codes but everything seemed in good condition and working. Game host was really friendly and attentive to the game. They did pop in at one point for an unexplained reason but gave us a clue at the same time. Clue system was via a talking parrot which was keeping in theme of the game.
Room 13Houdini's Escape Room Experience ChesterEscape roomIRLWell layed out game with some interesting puzzles. A lot of padlocks and some broken props that need some love or replacing. Game host was great and attentive all the way through the game.
Escape From R.M.S. TitanicHoudini's Cheshire OaksEscape roomIRLWell themed room and some fun puzzles. However what let it down was a few broken items, a puzzle that had missing pieces so you couldn't finish it (apparently the cleaner swept it up). Speaking of the GM. I think the one we had was having an off day. She didn't seem interested during the briefing and the one time we asked for a clue it took a while to respond and she had to ask where we were up to which usually means they weren't keeping an eye on the room. They also kept coming over the tannoy responding to what we were saying in the room almost in a chatty way and a few times guiding us a bit too directly or giving us direct instructions to a puzzle we were doing which took us out the immersion of the room and took away the feeling of solving it ourselves. The ending of the room was also quite flat with no real ending to the story. We didn't even know we had finished the room until the GM walked in with a sign to say we'd finished. Overall though we enjoyed the room and a few tweaks could make it even better
