Gold RushThe Escape Game - San JoseEscape roomIRLThe set design was really nice, as expected of an escape room at The Escape Game. The puzzles were pretty linear, and most of them were easy enough to figure out. There were a few parts that I think could be updated (one puzzle in particular was very hard to see and near impossible to complete unless done EXACTLY right). I wish The Escape Game would follow what most companies do and allow for private bookings (and not charge and arm and a leg to do so); this, a pretty delayed start time, and having to wait outside the facility were the only hiccups. We still had a great time overall.
Magic Heist60 to Escape - SchaumburgEscape roomIRL60 to Escape continues to impress! We’re really sad that we’re about to move out of Chicago because we want to visit all the locations! Magic Heist had a great variety of puzzles, and the set was beautiful as usual! My husband and two brothers-in-law have a mix of different levels of experience, yet it was enjoyable for everyone! Our game master was fun and helpful and made our time enjoyable as well. We will absolutely make it a point to return to the area to play the rest of the new games opening soon as well as visit the other locations!
Jurassic Outpost60 to Escape - SchaumburgEscape roomIRLWow! Another amazing 60 to Escape room! We were short one step to successfully escape, but that’s because we were too stubborn to use hints early enough when we were stumped for an extended period of time. 😂 It was a very cool theme with incredible immersion as always, the puzzles had a good balance of easier vs more challenging, and we just all around had an amazing experience! Our game master Derek (Derrick? Another spelling?) was hilarious and did a great job getting us immersed. Well done, and we can’t wait to come back as well as visit the other locations!
7 Deadly SinsEscapology - Orland ParkEscape roomIRLFailed… I really wanted to like this one, but eesh many of the puzzles were very arbitrary to us, like you could interpret things in several ways. How anyone could do this room without hints is beyond me. Even when we were given an answer or an explanation, we still felt lost overall. Some of the locks and things like the flashlight and markers could use a retouch for sure; faded things and not being able to see clearly at times were annoyances. The storyline had potential but was executed in a strange way. Staff was nice for the most part, but we did feel rushed like they were anxious to push us out of there ASAP. On a positive note, the decor was awesome as always and up to Escapology’s standards. We’ll still be back to check out the other ones despite having hiccups with this one. Thank you.
The Secret Of Dragon’s SpireEscape Games at the RiverEscape roomIRLThis was my first time doing an escape room as a team of two with my mom, and it was an incredible experience! The scenery was beautiful! The puzzles were challenging enough but not to the point of being frustrating. I have a lot more experience than my mom, but we both had a good amount of tasks to do at a balanced level. Our game master (Emmarie) was very sweet and helped our session run smoothly! I wish we could have done more of the rooms here if we had more time!
Doctor Psycho60Out - HollywoodEscape roomIRLHmm, this one certainly didn’t feel like any of the 60 Out rooms I had experienced previously. I overheard that this was one of their older rooms so that might have been an explanation in terms of simpler decor and generic spooky sounds ambiance, but even then, there were other things that bugged our experience. I do think this could have been an ok room, but the biggest hiccup for us was the crazy amount of unsolicited hints without giving us a fair amount of time to figure things out. I get it if we’re stuck for a LONG LONG LONG time, but here it felt like we’d face a new puzzle and then within a literal minute, we’d be prodded with a push in the right direction if not the answer flat out. We got the sense we were being rushed to finish the room ASAP for whatever reason, and this soured our experience quite a bit. This carried on until the end of the room, and we got out with about 20 minutes left so it wasn’t like we weren’t going to finish it (like come onnn at least give us the last puzzle where we were going to escape). For the price we paid, this one felt like a bit of a sting. Nevertheless, we still had fun spending time together, and we’d still be willing to visit the other rooms at this company given my past experiences, but just a note to let players think a little bit! Thank you!
The Last Laugh - CLOSEDPerplexity Escape Games BramptonEscape roomIRLFirst time at Perplexity! The booking system wasn’t working so they were nice enough to call me to confirm that my deposit went through. The room itself wasn’t bad; despite it being rated as super difficult, it wasn’t overly hard at all, and my team of four and I got out at a comfortable time and with no hints (we were very close to being the record!). There was enough for us all to do, and the decor was decent. I don’t necessarily think four players was mandatory, especially if more than one person in the group was more experienced. It also makes sense why people rated this room as “not scary;” there were creepy/spooky elements, but nothing made us blatantly scream. This room is also 60 minutes even though it was originally advertised as a 75 minute room.
Cheesie's Pizza Party60 to Escape - SchaumburgEscape roomIRLAfter loving the first room we did at 60 to Escape, we were really looking forward to this next room! Alright the theme was COOL! This was definitely my first time at a “Five Nights at Freddie” esque room! The setting was really immersive, the puzzles were really clever overall, and it was just a lot of fun! My husband and I have been genuinely SCARRED before with scary rooms so we are honest when we say this room can be creepy but not overly paralyzingly scary. DO NOT WORRY! You will have a great time!
Podwodny Świat [Underwater World] - CLOSEDKey To Be Free Escape RoomEscape roomIRLThis was another great room at Key to be Free! Like the other rooms here, this room was small, but the puzzles were all very challenging! I liked the neat theme, and my teammate and I had a great time! As always, the staff was very friendly!
Mystery Manor60 to Escape - SchaumburgEscape roomIRLThis was our first time at any 60 to Escape location, and WOW! I AM IMPRESSED! The safety video part made us feel like we were at a Disney park haha! The puzzles just made sense although they were challenging at times, and the effects were really well done! It was spooky but not so scary that you’re paralyzed by fear. I can’t wait to check out all the other rooms and locations! The staff was awesome, and we ended up buying a lanyard and button/pin (looking forward to collecting them all!)!
Star Trek Discovery: Damage Control [prev. Star Trek: Quantum Filament] - CLOSEDEscapology - Orland ParkEscape roomIRLThis was probably our favorite room of this Escapology location thus far! Everything flowed so smoothly, and we got through the puzzles amazingly! There was one part we definitely didn’t expect! Great experience overall! Escapology Orland Park has been a pretty awesome company as a whole from the three rooms we’ve done so far!
Scooby-Doo™ and the Spooky Castle AdventureEscapology - Orland ParkEscape roomIRLMy first Scooby Doo themed room! It was really fun and cute! We were a bit “worried” it might be “too easy,” but nope, it still had moments where we felt genuinely challenged! (Ruh roh!) Molly and Jordan were awesome staff/game masters, and it’s cool you get a commemorative rubber bracelet with every room you complete! We’ll be back for more!
Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient ExpressEscapology - Orland ParkEscape roomIRLWe loved the book so we were excited to check this escape room out! Of course as luck would have it, we picked the absolute hardest room at this company as our first visit here. 😖 It was fun nevertheless! Very hard, but we felt rusty not having done an escape room in a long time. 😅 We really appreciated the game masters giving us a few extra minutes to finish the room! 🙏🏼 We’ll definitely be back for the other rooms! Thank you!
The Testing WardReady Set Go Adventures - MississaugaEscape roomIRLIt was nice visiting Ready Set Go at their new location! Once again everything was very clean from the check in to the end of the experience. It had spooky elements, but it wasn't over the top paralyzing in terms of being scared. Certain tasks were particularly difficult (to us!), but my group and I still had a fun time overall. We look forward to visiting again to see their other rooms!
Wizard SchoolLimitless Escape GamesEscape roomIRLAs fans of Harry Potter, I'm always looking forward to a wizard-themed room. The idea was great, the settings were pretty visually appealing, and the puzzles were decent, but sadly things like not being greeted on time by staff, wonky mechanics, receiving unhelpful hints, and not being offered to have our picture taken (I had to take one myself for my collection) soured the experience a lot. We hope this company takes things like this into consideration because the room itself has great potential.
The RingmasterDare 2 EscapeEscape roomIRLI feel like I need to do more escape rooms in Orlando because I have enjoyed every single one I've done. I'm always down for a creepy circus theme, and this escape room had a decent level of creepiness that wasn't over the top in terms of being scared. The puzzles were clever, and my friend and I had a great time! Our game master was also very friendly and let us hang out in the lobby until our uber came. I look forward to checking out the other rooms here!
Rugrats: Search For The Losted Toys - CLOSEDThe Escape Game - Las Vegas Forum ShopsEscape roomIRLMy experiences with The Escape Game have been hit or miss in terms of the staff, but the ones at this location were great and didn't give us that "commercial" feel at all! The escape room itself was splendid tying in elements from Rugrats so nicely even though I didn't grow up watching a lot of the show, and the puzzles were all well thought out. Even though we've played Playground at The Escape Game before, we didn't feel like that ruined our experience playing this one. We felt very comfortable throughout the experience and felt a great sense of accomplishment having used no hints! I can't wait to try out the rest of the rooms at The Escape Game!
Escape Operation: End Of DaysMission Escape GamesEscape roomIRLI loved my experiences at Mission Escape Games at Anaheim so I was looking forward to this one! It was fun, and the scenery was as detailed as the other rooms at Mission Escape Games. I was suprised my team and I finished so quickly; I wish we hadn't used that one hint we did since we would have had plenty of time grrr! I can't wait to try more rooms!
Rikers, 1932BrainXcape Escape Room NYCEscape roomIRLI think you’ll see how cool this escape room is as soon as you get there! The sets were movie quality and just incredible all around. It's amazing we got out JUST in time! Staff was great and made us feel welcome! I look forward to seeing the other rooms here!
MasqueradeEscape Room MadnessEscape roomIRLHmm, I think the biggest flaw of this escape room experience was mostly due to the inattentiveness of the staff and then secondarily the puzzles did not all make sense. When we asked for hints, we were given clues to steps we already completed, yet we still had a clue taken away from our allotted number of clues. It also didn't help that we could easily hear the staff chatting outside, taking us out of the experience. When we brought up some issues we had with some of the puzzles at the end, the game master did not seem to care much and made us feel like she just wanted us to leave ASAP. We weren't even offered a picture; I only have one because I had to insist and push for it. I hope this company retrains its staff to act more professionally and be friendlier. Hopefully there have been improvements since the time I visited.
