Otto’s Oddities [prev. Otto’s 1901]Pier Pressure - WelwynEscape roomIRLFirst visit to a Pier Pressure escape room and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Our host Ben was really friendly and helpful, just the right amount of clues/nudges to stop us getting too stuck or frustrated; this is supposed to be fun after all. The room was well done (no marks to give away if something should be moved, no props looking a bit worse for wear) and the puzzles went from quite easy to a bit more complicated; one of the more difficult ones would've totally stumped us but our son got it immediately, somehow. Really liked the 'squeaky window' for the clues, so you don't have to read it if you don't want to; rooms where they speak the clues mean you don't get a choice to try and fumble your way through on your own. They take a team photo for you at the end that they then email it to you, with the brand and location added but, just an idea, maybe the team name and date/time could be added too? We did the room in just under the hour and the cost was on par with the other escape rooms we've done, so happy with that. Ben suggests that usually teams of six are best for the room, due to the nature of one of the puzzles, but we did okay with just the 3 of us. Will definitely be looking for other Pier Pressure rooms nearer home and hope they're as good as this one. Tip 1: If you haven't been here before, park in the multi-storey just to the left of the Campus West building and go up the stairs on the left as you enter. Walk through, stop in the cafe area and ring to let them know you've arrived, they'll come and collect you. Tip 2: there's a reasonable amount of reading - not just looking at stuff - so don't forget your glasses (like I did)
