Storyteller's Secret
Boxaroo
Escape room
IRL
8.7/10 After traveling several miles to get to Boxaroo in Boston and try Storyteller’s Secret, we can definitely assure you it was worth it. The set itself was extraordinary and really immersed you into the author’s world. This had to be one of the best “non-escape” rooms we have been a part of, with puzzles galore and a plot that lasted over an hour without becoming boring. We personally thought the intro video and hint system really stood out (even though we didn’t need to use many hints). Our only hiccup with the room was the repetition of using and doing the same puzzles (and some technical difficulties with a specific puzzle). We wish they could have added a new layer of something, instead of having to go back to repeat what we just did. Otherwise, between the storyline, design, and gameplay, this room rightfully earned itself a rating of 8.7 on our scale.
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
13th Hour Escape Room - Wharton
Escape room
IRL
9.3/10 Wow! This was an absolute adventure from beginning to end. The room was one of, if not, the most well designed rooms that I have ever played in. You are fully immersed in the story the moment you step into the room. All I can say is wow and that this is a must do room!

Crane Manor
Clue IQ
Escape room
IRL
WOW!! This was the first room we’ve done that was over 60 minutes and we were not disappointed at all. ClueIQ were able to fit so many different and unique puzzles in the room, that worked well with the theme. I feel that the atmosphere of the “manor” really drove this room forward and kept us on our toes the whole time. Really fun room and would highly recommend! (We can’t wait to do their other rooms) 8.9/10
The Grand Parlor
13th Hour Escape Room - Wharton
Escape room
IRL
You know a room is above and beyond when you want to go back and play it again. 13th Hour and The Grand Parlor live up to the hype!!! We completed this as a group of 2, but instantly wished we had AT LEAST a group of 4. There is so much to see and do that we did miss some pieces to certain puzzles and could’ve used more eyes to pick up on them. The only negative was that we felt rushed from the time we stepped through the door to the time we left. We never got a second to really appreciate the experience. This may be due to the fact that they are always completely booked especially on weekends (maybe try going during the week). THIS IS A MUST DO ROOM! 9.4/10
Ghost Light
MyssTic Rooms
Escape room
IRL
9/10 After playing Ghost Light, it is no surprise why Myss Tic is such a highly recommended location in New York. Ghost Light took us on a journey that we can only describe as beautiful. They put a unique twist on a typical “ghost-theme” and made a story that will please almost anyone! The mission was clear and the journey through the room along with the puzzles fit in so well with the story. The details in this room put you right on set and make you feel as though you are about to make your broadway debut. There is one puzzle that uses smell and the scents are very strong, so if anyone is sensitive to strong scents here is your warning! But wow…. The ending of Ghost Light really stood out and we absolutely loved everything that was done in order to finish this room. After 87 games played, Ghost Light makes our top 5 games and we can’t recommend it enough! Break a leg!
8-Bit Escape
Escape Room Herndon
Escape room
IRL
This was the final room that we needed to complete at ERH, and they just do not miss with any of their rooms. Right as the game master opens the door for you to enter this room, you are going to be fully immersed in a living room based in the 80s. Everything about this room, from the props to the puzzles themselves make this one of, if not the most perfect 80s themed rooms out there. This room was nonstop fun (even with us being born in the late 90s) and had some very unique puzzles that went with the theme as well. The final part of the room was so much fun and really ended the room with a bang! There is a bonus puzzle after completing the room if you finished in a certain amount of time, which isn’t too difficult. Overall, this was a great room and if you are in the area, it is a must do. 8.5/10
Train Robbery
Cyber Raccoon Escape Room
Escape room
IRL
7.9/10 Train Robbery has been on our wishlist for quite a while, so we were happy to finally be able to play it. This room definitely did not disappoint with a great story and fun atmosphere making it one of the better rooms in the DC/Northern VA area. There is an aspect of a “whodunit,” which isn’t usually our cup of tea but it was still super enjoyable with a lot to do! It was on the more difficult side, especially with only 2 people, but we were able to beat it with a minute to spare 😬 (You can check out our full review on our blog. Link in our profile. Cryptid Grove
Escape Room Herndon - Raven's Nest
Escape room
IRL
8/10 We’ll start off by saying we love Ravenchase rooms, so when we heard a brand new location was opening with a new room, we had to play it right away! There is so much to do here, and when you first walk in it can all be a bit overwhelming, but this only makes solving each of the puzzles that more satisfying. The flow from puzzle to puzzle was very smooth. We enjoyed each of the puzzles and thought they went well with the story! We do wish we were more immersed in this world they try to create. When we played Cryptid Grove, the game wasn’t even out to the public for a full week so this can easily be fixed to make it truly feel like you are in a cabin in the woods!
Magician's Workshop
Escape Room Herndon
Escape room
IRL
By far, one of the best experiences we’ve had in any escape room. After completing 60 rooms, this is definitely in our top 3 favorite rooms so far. There are so many different unique elements to this room that you just have to do to experience yourselves. Can’t say much more without spoiling the room, so do yourselves a favor and come out and do this room! 9.2/10
SOS
Escape Boats
Escape room
IRL
9/10 After 65 rooms, this might be the most immersive game we have done so far. Completely submerging ourselves in a boat really enhances the experience. Being agile is very important as the boat is on the smaller side. The puzzles in the room were fairly linear but all went well with the story and nothing seemed out of place. The ending and final room is something we will probably never forget! We were treated great by our GM and are hoping to come back soon to try their other room with friends. If you are in Dublin, make Escape Boats your number 1 escape room destination! (You can check out our full review in our blog. Link in my profile.
