Amnesia
Puzzle Effect - Denver
Escape room
IRL
This is one of the hardest rooms I’ve ever attempted. I haven’t played in a couple of years, but I would play it again just to see how it ends. It was so complex that I’m sure I could go back and not remember a majority, if not all of it. Definitely a great challenge for experienced escapers.
The Cursed Vault
Epic Escape Game - South Denver
Escape room
IRL
Epic Escape Games was my intro to escape rooms. Cursed Vault has to be hands down my favorite escape for its immersion factor and difficulty level. Perfect for me and my friend when we had just started.
Grim Stacks: Books & Binding
Puzzle Effect - Denver
Escape room
IRL
This is a room I would recommend for anyone who’s newer to the community. It wasn’t a major challenge, but it still makes you scratch your brain and think outside the box. Very good middle ground for experience players bringing family in on the fun!
Buried Alive
Epic Escape Game - South Denver
Escape room
IRL
I love a good spooky escape. A haunting story to keep me looking over my shoulder without being too distracting to play. A couple of these puzzles were very cool and out there, but otherwise it was mostly a really good story that you want to solve as you go through.
Blackbeard's Brig
EscapeWorks Denver - Convention Center
Escape room
IRL
This game was a challenge for me and my one friend due to it being non-linear. That being said it was the only non-linear game we ever completely split based on puzzles that worked for the way we each think and solve things. If one of us didn’t get the puzzle we were solving we switched, and it got us pretty far! Simply too much for a pair to accomplish alone though (which I happen to think is smart for a non-linear room)
Weird Heritage
Room 5280
Escape room
IRL
5280 has some whacko themes that I really enjoyed the idea of. The weird relatives games are always interesting but this one was a little more out there. My biggest thing about 5280 at the time was the clue system (see game flow review).Otherwise I think they do a great job.
