Cosmic CrisisThe Escape Game - MinneapolisEscape roomIRLMe and my grandma loved Cosmic Crisis at The Escape Game at MOA! It was very well done. The amount of high tech elements alongside physical props helped you get immersed immediately. Once the door was shut, I thought I was inside a spaceship. The lighting, effects, and sound design were all on point. Each element had a purpose and there wasn’t anything that didn’t happen for a reason. The clue giving mechanic is this room is amazing and so lovely. Everything in this room felt purpose built. There wasn’t anything that felt like it was bought off of Amazon. Or at least if it was, it was given a special redesign to fit the theme. The intro story at the beginning was great to get you immersed, but it almost went by too quickly. I would have like a quick recap on why we are supposed to complete these tasks. But there was a recap on what tasks needed to be completed as well as a screen with the tasks listed on it. The staff here is amazing! Aliana at the front desk was wonderful, we told her about our goal to complete all the MN escape rooms, and she and our GM (I’m so sorry I forgot their name) ended up giving us a TEG passport with all the TEG rooms and pins for the rooms we had completed so far, and a Minneapolis location shirt! Overall I really enjoyed this room. 8.5/10
Activate [Interactive Arcade]Activate - Mall of AmericaEscape roomOther Second activate location I’ve been to and the best! Better than Roseville. $5 more expensive though. There are more rooms and doubles of more popular games like strike, hoops, and grid. Always do activate when you get the chance!
Activate [Interactive Arcade]Activate - RosevilleEscape roomOther A must do! Did the 60 minute experience with a friend and our group of two had the best time! Dan was the best! We were running a bit late and he was able to move our reservation a half hour. There is no guarantee that this is always a possibility. I would recommend doing an early morning booking just so you have less of a crowd and you don’t have to wait for as many rooms. I’d recommend booking an hour and a half so then you have enough time to play all the rooms and find your favorite. I listened to the podcast “Big Dumb Stuff” and heard about this place from them. Would recommend a listen just so you can understand each of the games beforehand. It is a little hard to understand each game so I would recommend tapping the question mark before each game to get the quick tutorial. Our favorite game was Trivial at Hoops. A close second was I think airlock at strike. I loved the variety of games they had. Every room had a mix of team and versus games. One thing I didn’t not like was waiting for each room. I understand that it’s inevitable but it’s was a bit of a pain. It was fine in the beginning but once more people showed up we ended up skipping games because we had to wait and didn’t want to waste the minutes we had left. Also in Control, one of the foot pads was broken but as we were leaving the game, Dan the man was ready to fix it. Overall a great experience! 9.5/10 for me! Will definitely come back soon!
Wizard's TowerTrapped Puzzle Rooms - Saint PaulEscape roomIRLGreat wizarding world themed escape room! Went for the theme, stayed for the puzzles! Our team of 4, comprised of entirely newbies, were able to escape with some help from the wonderfully designed hint giving system. The overall design of the puzzles take a sec to figure out but make sense in the overall story. There was one puzzle that was a bit worn and hard to decipher. Overall amazing room for how old it is!
The DepthsThe Escape Game - MinneapolisEscape roomIRLThis was my first room with TEG. Played as a group of 5 with a large variety of ages. The overall theming and story were great and easy to understand. There is a screen that shows you what your objectives are and if they’re completed which was really handy. I will say there were two puzzles that threw me off. One of the puzzles looked solved but apparently wasn’t. But the last puzzle, I was just overthinking the puzzle. Overall and wonderful experience!
