Eldritch EmporiumEscape OpsEscape roomIRLAfter loving Dynamic Duo I was very excited to try Escape Ops’ newest instalment and was not disappointed! You can tell by the room just how much this company loves making escape rooms; the set was really beautiful and elaborate and the puzzles were super diverse and creative. We had a lot of fun with just 2 of us :)
Jack The RipperTrapped - CalgaryEscape roomIRLThis room is very scary and immersive and we were all genuinely terrified. At times it’s hard to move on to the next room due to anticipation. I am usually not a huge fan of horror and was VERY hesitant to do this room, but am so glad that I did!! Let this be some encouragement that if you get scared easily this can still be an extremely fun and rewarding experience, especially if you go in a slightly larger group (we did 4) with your friends :) highly recommend
Way of the MandoEscape 60 - Downtown Escape Room ExperienceEscape roomIRLAlthough this room required no Star Wars knowledge, it boasted a very impressive Star Wars-themed set and really made you feel like you were on the millennium falcon! We did this with 2 experienced players and it worked very well for us. Although the individual puzzles were relatively easy, the difficulty of this room stems from the sheer number of puzzles to complete. I wasn't personally a huge fan of how non-linear this room was and felt that it took away from its overall flow. There were times where my partner or I had solved some of the easier puzzles simply as we explored the room looking for what to do next, and this created some confusion as to what had already been used and what hadn't. However, if non-linear escape rooms are your thing, then you will definitely have a blast! There were also puzzles still in the room that were no longer in use. I don't mind it if there are ambiguous things in the room that can potentially steer you off course, but these were very obviously puzzles so I found it a bit distracting. They did have a lot of really unique puzzles, with a good combination of tech and mechanical elements. Overall, it was still a very fun room with a nice facility and staff! Definitely will be back to try more :)
The WoodsmanEscape City - CalgaryEscape roomIRLAll the rooms at escape city were so creative and fun to solve so it’s hard to pick a favorite but this one was absolutely up there!! We did this one with 2 experienced players and it was a really satisfying difficulty level and we barely made it out with no hints used. It was really great to see such thorough continuity between the room theme and puzzle themes. Absolutely do this room!!
Lost City of AtlantisGame Over Escape Rooms - CalgaryEscape roomIRLThe set design of this room was honestly breathtaking!! The way they integrated the Atlantis theme was very beautiful and atmospheric. Some clues were a bit unclear on how to interpret but overall a very fun room
NeurologicalEscape City - CalgaryEscape roomIRLThis room had an insanely imaginative and creative storyline. They split up your group so you need at least 4 players, but it was really fun and a cool way to force you to communicate
Pharaoh's LabyrinthExit CanadaEscape roomIRLWe had so much fun in this room! For the majority of the room you are separated, so bring friends that you communicate well with :) We did this with just 2 players and it worked perfectly for us, but honestly any more than 3-4 and it might start to get a bit chaotic. I loved the flow of this room despite the separation; they integrated this feature very well and it was rare that we were stumped on what to work on next. They also had some pretty cool puzzles that were clever and fun to complete! As always, the staff here were so nice to us and gave us some bonus info for being done early. Even though Egypt is a bit of an overdone theme, the way they tell the story of how you got into the room is always full of energy and fun and really makes the experience that much better. Definitely recommend!
