La Rébellion
The Cipher Room St Peters
Escape room
IRL
Did this with a team of 4. I loveeeed this escape room. Can't recommend it enough. I thought it was really creative and novel in many aspects. The atmosphere was great, the puzzles really fun and had some cool theatrics. The level of difficulty suited our group well and at multiple points we were showing each other puzzles we had completed so no one missed out on any part of the experience.

Fun with a larger group, good if you like a bit of competition. Puzzles were on the easier side.

We did this room as a group of four, it was our first of three escape rooms that we did on the day. Really liked the interior design of the escape room and that it was more spacious. Had lots of things to look at so at no point did it feel like I was bored even when others were solving a puzzle. The atmosphere was great and contributed well to the theme of the room. There was only one puzzle I really disliked and mainly because it was a bit time consuming and the fact that I'm not a huge fan of having to read a bunch of text to solve puzzles (but that's just me). Other than that it was fun and loved that there were no padlock and key based locks in this one.

This was the second of three rooms I did with a team of four. I thought the room had some fun and unique puzzles. Lots of space to roam and some unexpected areas. Also had some pretty cool design aspects.

I enjoyed the magic theme which was consistent throughout the escape room. It had some cool interactive puzzles and some unique mechanisms, which were fun. The difficulty was fine for us and we solved it quite smoothly.
The Hideaway

We did two other escape rooms on the same day (with a group 4) before doing hideaway. This room was our least favourite of the three. It was more padlock heavy and had a lot of of puzzles, definitely the hardest of the three rooms. I think my brain was also a bit fried by the time we did this room so that made it more challenging. We also made some silly mistakes when we found stuff that distracted us from having a thorough look after solving certain puzzles. In addition, we apparently accidentally broke the linearity of the room, which confused us for a bit, but managed to eventually get ourselves back on track. It was nice that the staff came in and explained how we performed on different puzzles and gave us insight into how other groups generally performed.

We did this room with a group of 4. This room was bilinear so we could divide and conquer different puzzles together, this made it interesting for all of us so that we all had something to do. However, it was a bit on the easier side so we finished it faster than the other rooms. In terms of storyline and theme it wasn't as immersive as the other rooms and felt more like a series of challenges.

An enjoyable room I did with my partner. This room was more narrative based, puzzles were linear and there were no locks at all. Everything in the room used mechanisms. We liked the design and aesthetics of one room in particular. Wasn't a too challenging in terms of difficulty.

Did this room with a team of four. Was quite padlock heavy. Pretty standard escape room with low tech puzzles, no mechanisms.

I did this room as a pair with my best friend who hasn't done many escape rooms before. We liked the jumanji theme. The puzzles were more traditional but there were some surprises along the way. This escape room mainly used an ipad and qr code system to give hints, and the hints had a 10 minute interval before you could scan another qr code for a hint. There was also a button in the room that you could use to call the game master to the room if you needed help (this had no time restriction). The overall difficulty of the game wasn't too long, although we did lose a fair bit of time on one puzzle which relied on colours. Due to the dim lighting in the room one of the colours looked like a different colour under the lighting, causing us to struggle with unlocking a lock despite knowing how to solve the problem. We thought we might be missing something but the hint that was given through the ipad was the same as what we were already doing to solve the puzzle so we had to call the game master for help. It took a couple minutes for her to reach us, which took up some more of our time. It was only after she came that she said what we thought was 'orange' was actually pink. If we hadn't spend so long on this puzzle we might have escaped, so we gave this feedback to them and apparently other people have had the same issue. That said, we were still allowed some overtime to complete the room and had lots of fun.
