The Marlowe HotelThe Cipher Room NewtownEscape roomIRLSuch an interesting game! We’ve been told this is the hardest Cipher Room room, and boy did we feel it. We struggled at times but the atmosphere was incredible. Would recommend following their suggestions of wearing monochrome clothing to really fit in with the ambience they’ve created. We received a pic and a Cipher Room pin upon completion.
Forest of EchoesNext Level EscapeEscape roomIRLEverything about this game was magical. Again, it was two of us and that possibly made it a bit more challenging, but man did we enjoy it! Our GM, Jax, was phenomenal and we couldn’t recommend them highly enough. This little character we are posing with in our photo is Eiya, and she owns my heart. The room is very highly driven by story and it was a unique one for us. It wasn’t timed, and we didn’t feel an urgency to get out, but make sure we’d done everything right. Everything about this room was unique.
The VaultEscape Rooms CanberraEscape roomIRLWe loved this! We did it as a team of two and found the game very interesting and engaging. There was a puzzle to solve that we found difficult and needed a hint on, completely forgetting that we’d been given instructions on it before the game began (it involves a mobile phone) We didn’t feel particularly welcomed by the staff at this venue, and we didn’t feel that they were enjoying themselves quite as much as other venues we’ve been to.
The NightmareRiddle Room CanberraEscape roomIRLI think Riddle Room had just about the nicest GM we’ve ever had! Loved it. Fantastic vibes. We did the room as a pair and it was spoooooky. I loved the waiting room too; there were puzzles to do while waiting for your room to be ready, and as mentioned the GM was wonderful. It wasn’t our absolute favourite as our brains couldn’t comprehend some of the puzzles, but that was absolutely an ‘us’ problem!
Deadwood HeistBreakout Bar and Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLI’m not entirely sure why we went back when we haven’t always had the best room experiences here. The staff were lovely! But I had to send some feedback about the ambient music used in the room. It reached a point where it was so loud that my husband and I literally were shouting at each other and still couldn’t hear. It was very off putting. Some of the puzzles weren’t very intuitive, and even after receiving hints we weren’t quite sure how they fit together or made sense. Unfortunately, after two not-so-great experiences at Breakout Bar, we’ve left our Wollongong Escape Room days behind us.
The FutureBreakout Bar and Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLBreakout Bar rooms have been some of our least favourite. The last mechanism for the very final bit to escape kept delaying and meant that we technically didn’t escape, even though we did. We would have gotten out of the mechanism didn’t keep relocking itself.
RedemptionEscape Dunedin - Dunedin PrisonEscape roomIRLWe went on a cruise to New Zealand and used one of our port days for a cheeky escape room! This was such a great atmosphere for a room. The ending felt a little bit anticlimactic if I’m completely honest, but it still gets a high rating from us given how good everything else was. We thoroughly enjoyed being locked in the cells to begin with! Did it with 2 people, didn’t use any hints and escaped in time!
The CabinThe Cipher Room NewtownEscape roomIRLOne of our favourites! Did it as a group of 2 and used no hints! The atmosphere was fantastic and we just loved it. Very spooky. We received a Cipher Room pin and photo afterward.
Perpetual MotionElude Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLHonestly I completely forgot we did this! We enjoyed some of the puzzles and found that we really kicked it into gear for the first few but then stumbled near the end. Still enjoyed it!
Tesla's MysteryFox In A Box FirenzeEscape roomIRLWe went to Europe and HAD to do an escape room while we were there! There was a bit of an awkward time where perhaps the GM was helping another group or something, but instead of a mechanics release, the GM had to do something and we had to wait a reasonable amount of time before they were able to do their bit so we could continue on with the game. Definitely not a favourite, but still a great experience.
EspionageThe Cipher Room NewtownEscape roomIRLEspionage remains one of our absolute favourites. We always come back and talk about this one! Without revealing too much, there were excellent puzzles and hidden things that was SO enjoyable.

Would definitely be willing to try it again now that we have more rooms under our belt, but this definitely wasn’t suited for a bunch of novice escapers. Was a lot of fun, though!
