The Observatory
The Gate Escape
Escape room
IRL
Full review TK but this room has one of the most jaw-dropping moments I have ever experienced in an escape room. It is a pure puzzlefest from start to finish.
13th Basement
Exit Game OC - Anaheim
Escape room
IRL
It’s fun, it’s funny, it’s self-aware in the best way. Highly recommended.
Stash House

The Last Supper
Quest Tavern
Escape room

I will write more later but for now I am just noting that this is a must-play. Really unique concept and executed at a high level. The entire room hinges on your interactions with a live actor. For us the actor was phenomenal and thus so was the experience.
Hope End
The Ministry Of Peculiarities
Escape room
IRL
I will write more later but for now will just say that this is a must-play. Really delightful.
Lab Rat
Hatch Escapes
Escape room
IRL
This is one of the most unique escape rooms I’ve ever played. Don’t look for spoilers other than what they tell you on the website. The puzzles are good, the in-game and environmental jokes are quite funny, the set design is excellent, and the theme is surely unique. Highest recommendation.
Black Dragon
Escape Room LA
Escape room
IRL
I really enjoyed this room, right from the beginning when you have a rather unique interactive introduction, all the way through the large number of well-constructed puzzles. The set design is also excellent. Highly recommended.
Wizard's Treasure
60Out - Hollywood
Escape room
IRL
This is a lovingly crafted room. Sure, it is very easy, but the story is delightful (starting with the intro before you even enter the room and lasting all the way through the end credits) and the use of technology inside of hand-crafted scenery is flawless. There are laugh-out-loud moments and some genuinely magical interactions. Highly recommended.
Stash House
Stash House
Escape room
IRL
This was a great room. The setup is simple but the way the room unfolds as you play it was surprising and entertaining. Several of the puzzle chains were among my favorites that I have done in a long time. The subject matter is, obviously, mature so don’t bring the kiddos but as long as you are OK with profuse drug references and associated PG-13 rated concepts you will be fine. I mean, not if you fail the room, then you’ll be busted by the cops and that will definitely harsh your mellow. But otherwise fine. Highly recommended.
Operation Nightwalker
MindTrap Escape Room - Murrieta
Escape room
IRL
This was my favorite room at MindTrap. It has a good level of difficulty, the puzzles are solid the whole way through, the set design is excellent, and the whole experience was immersive without going over the top in the ways that rooms about zombies and Nazis sometimes do. Highly recommended.
Winnie The Pooh
MindTrap Escape Room - Murrieta
Escape room
IRL
These stories were among my favorites when I was a child. This room is a nearly scene-for-scene recreation of one of the stories in particular, but it draws on many. My only minor quibble is that you really only interact directly with Pooh. The other characters are mentioned, but are not really present. The game is also very easy (which is unsurprising). Go in and soak up the atmosphere, don’t try to speedrun this room. Highly recommended if you are fond of the stories. (If you are only familiar with the Disney version and not the original, this is based on the original.)
