Cosmic CrisisThe Escape Game - MurrayEscape roomIRLWe've done this room twice, the first time in a "shared experience" and a second time just us two with the intention to speedrun what we remembered and try out the puzzles we weren't able to because of the strangers with us. Being out with strangers discouraged us, but this is now one of our absolute favorite escape room locations. The puzzles are so well themed to the room and don't feel stereotypically "escape room." Hermes, a little robot guy who explains the room to you and is then your source of clues (controlled by your GM) is such a creative way to not break the immersion in order to receive clues. There is a puzzle that requires at least three people, and when we played the room as a team of 2, our GM Kylie came and joined us to do that puzzle, and she made sure to let us lead the puzzle and not spoil the fun by telling us how it's meant to be done.
Timeliner: Train Through TimeThe Escape Game - MurrayEscape roomIRLHad a lot of fun in this room. Had two strangers in the room with us but they were so helpful, and the game guide made sure to give us tips to make things go smoothly in a mixed group. The room itself is very well themed and very creative. It gets easier as you go, but the puzzles are still consistently fun and satisfying.
The DepthsThe Escape Game - MurrayEscape roomIRLThis is our favorite game at this location! The puzzles are so well themed and a good mix of tactile and analytical. while we were challenged, we felt that we knew in general which elements went to which puzzle. The room was clean and well maintained. Every time you do something right, you get an audible cue to signal you to keep going. The clues are delivered to you very quickly, and they don't give everything away but they aren't a riddle you have to decode. Our game guide also let us know that some puzzles in the games here have multiple ways they can be solved, especially puzzles that include outside knowledge such as the periodic table.
Lost CityEscapology - Salt Lake City, Gateway UTEscape roomIRLI've had mixed feelings on this company for a while, however this game really rubbed my partner and i in the wrong way. We've played other games with them and had better times with those experiences, but I would not recommend this game. We had to get many hints, when we usually try to stick to three, purely because the puzzles weren't designed in a way where they challenged you, but didn't stump you consistently. There were some incredibly designed puzzles but not enough to outweigh the ones that disappointed us. Multiple times we got a hint that was something we already knew even getting multiple hints in a row like that after informing them we already knew that, and we know that the game guides here sit on multiple games at once, so it was clear we weren't a priority. Lastly, there were multiple puzzles that relied on you being able to see something (usually color based,) and the room these puzzles were in had this harsh amber colored light over the entire room. You couldn't see the colors at all, and we had to pull out phone flashlights to even get close to solving the puzzle.
