The Magician's Secret

it magic time I can’t lie most of this room felt a bit like a weird fever dream. We did some magic, there was a rabbit and a hat and so on. We had a moderate tech issue that made us repeat the same puzzle multiple times and I do think it made me feel a little insane. This room isn’t here anymore, an act of magic perhaps?

PICK A CARD, ANY CARD (hey not that one) Ask any of my beloved, die-hard Morty followers out there what I consider my absolute favourite escape room theme to be and they’ll tell you… MAGIC MAGICIANS, BABY!! And I liked The Magician’s Secret as whole, it was a vibrant experience with colourful props galore and an interesting enough storyline to follow, so far so good. For me, it just lacked any real wow factor. I think there’s so much fun to be had in this field when considering elements like sleight of hand, vanishing, smoke and mirrors, transformation, but this one didn’t really swing for the fences as much as I’d hoped. I could be a little snobby as I have played some truly fantastic magic rooms but I was just hoping to have a little bit more fun. A small tech hiccup in the middle didn’t help the cause but outside of that, that same playing card puzzle felt very unique to work through and solve (less so when you do it 5 different times 🤭). All in all, not bad but nothing to get excited about. Consider me perfectly whelmed. 6.5/10 🔏🧩

Best of the escape manor l. Puzzles are hard but fair. Fun and mechanical puzzles. And multiple rooms.

‘The Magician’s Secret’ is an enjoyable game within Escape Manor’s collection of escape experiences. While the first half of the game is filled with delightful magic-themed puzzles, our experience in the second half was spoiled by our GM experience. Without requesting any hints, the GM mistakenly gave us hints for another game and then repeatedly gave us clues (without us asking for any), even providing the answers for multiple puzzles. After the game, the GM mentioned that those puzzles always require cluing, so they preemptively told us what to do. If those puzzles are consistently challenging for players, further iteration on both the cluing and puzzle design may be necessary to improve the experience and reduce the need for GMs to intervene. The way ‘The Magician’s Secret’ initially delivers its magic-themed puzzles is wonderful, which is why this game gets a thumbs up overall.

Loved this room. Would recommend for a beginner.

Found this to be the hardest one in Escape Manor!

I really enjoyed this room, lots of fun puzzles and the GM was in character. One of the locks was already undone which disrupted our flow a little.

This was a great room, the GM was excellent and kept character throughout the experience. Would recommend this room and company to all escape room enthusiasts.

Some cool aspects to this room. Some fairly easy puzzles but one was a little illogical and frustrating.
