Masquerade

The room is simply not cared for. There are tiles peeling and a few of the puzzles were very difficult to read. The flow of the room is fine if a little predictable as there is no second room and the puzzles are very backweighted. Would not recommend as your first escape room as the sheer lack of enjoyment might turn you off the whole genre.

Masquerade is... adequate? Decent to good? It's definitely not an avoid, but it's far from a recommend. Decent puzzles and some creative ideas are really held back by absolutely miserable production values and maintenance and a pretty incoherent theme. I rated it as liked because we really did have a decent time, but it's hard to recommend it when there are so many high quality and high production value rooms in NYC.

Worst escape room experience ever. There is only one room and everything was falling apart. One of the puzzles used a note that was so faded it was barely legible. The puzzles themselves are ok but nothing memorable. I would skip this one.

Neutral rating (not good, but not the worst). Good combination of puzzles. Some puzzles weren't really intuitive. This and Quarantine are their "easiest rooms," but I found this to be better than Quarantine in terms of the puzzles and challenge. The puzzles still are on the simpler side, and I feel like we overthought a few of the puzzles, but they turned out to be simpler than expected. From most to least favorite, I'd rank their rooms as the following, and I wouldn't recommend anything below Prey and Masquerade: Perfect Crime, Exodus, Prey, Masquerade , Nuclear Annihilation, Quarantine

This was a challenging escape room. We needed an extra 6 mins to solve the rest of the clues in this room. Overall this was a good room, some clues led to misinterpretation, but that was on us. We were a group of 4.

Out of all 100+ rooms I have done, this was by far the worst. Terrible puzzles, confusing storyline, non intuitive structure and not fun. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.

Hmm, I think the biggest flaw of this escape room experience was mostly due to the inattentiveness of the staff and then secondarily the puzzles did not all make sense. When we asked for hints, we were given clues to steps we already completed, yet we still had a clue taken away from our allotted number of clues. It also didn't help that we could easily hear the staff chatting outside, taking us out of the experience. When we brought up some issues we had with some of the puzzles at the end, the game master did not seem to care much and made us feel like she just wanted us to leave ASAP. We weren't even offered a picture; I only have one because I had to insist and push for it. I hope this company retrains its staff to act more professionally and be friendlier. Hopefully there have been improvements since the time I visited.

While this room isn’t unique per se, it does have a couple unique puzzles that I really enjoyed especially being a fan of music and theater. It’s a medium room so works well for first-timers which my teammate was. Good for 2-4 players ideally. Pushing it with more than 4 space-wise since NYC is a bit space-challenged. Overall, would recommend especially if you like this type of theme!

This room has a lot of potential. It was still an enjoyable experience, but the room and its mechanics need tender love and care (peeling floor, glue residue, combination locks that are a pain to turn numbers and letters on, etc). Although I wouldn’t call this a difficult escape room in the grand scheme of things, my partner and I experienced a lot of difficulty on some puzzles because the deductions we had to make did not always feel logically inferred from other puzzle components. Still enjoyed myself! Just not as high quality. And staff was one of the much less personable I’ve encountered

This room was one you won’t forget! There were tasks in this that were very unique! It took body movement to unlock a puzzle which was a fun first! Visually stunning and the puzzles flowed nicely within the story.
