Chernobyl

We really enjoyed the novel puzzles. Helped that one of us had some experience with the Russian language, but that’s not necessary (we just didn’t need the clues to help with it).

Chernobyl was one of Nerd Escapes' better rooms. Set in the 1980's and taking place in an apartment in the Soviet Union, they did a great job of conveying that Cold War feeling. We were warned Soviet soldiers would be coming back for us in an hour & it felt like it! Like every one of Nerd Escapes' rooms, they aren't easy, so bring your thinking caps! A minimalist use of design sometimes prevented us from seeing the puzzles that were right in our face. This game is mostly linear and all in all, a solid experience. Come for Chernobyl & City of No Sun & time permitting, throw in The Return & Dracula.

The puzzles were thematic in the sense that the props matched the room design but did not feel well integrated into the story. The puzzles were quite linear which meant all players would often switch to an observing mode.

An amazing experience full of fun puzzles, would suggest.

Wow what a room! This room definitely needs at least two people to do. I’m on a work trip and did this room solo. By far one of the hardest rooms I’ve ever done. Started to panic towards the end, but got it done. Thought the room flowed super well from beginning to end.

Very linear. Only one puzzle to be working on at a time, which made our group of 6 too big. There was some translation of cyrillic and russian in order to solve the "puzzle", but sometimes that was just a bit tedious. There were unique parts of the room, but overall it was a bit flat.

Good room. Lots to do. Always had a handle on which puzzle we were on. Logical puzzles. All their rooms are high quality.

Enjoyed this room a lot. This was my 11 year old son’s favorite room! Yes you are locked in a closet in the beginning but they are upfront about that and make sure you are ok with it. Cool use of space and the story is neat. Enjoyed the Russian elements too.

The amount of Russian used throughout the game felt less immersive and more-so like a language barrier. The space for this room was used very well.
