"School After Hours: The Final Rush" at Armadillo Escape Room shows some improvement over their "Project Dark Cyber" game, but still falls short in several areas. The game design raises some concerns. Puzzles requiring outside knowledge, even if it's supposed to be common, can be problematic. Ideally, all necessary information should be discoverable within the game itself. The atmosphere could use enhancement. The absence of background music or ambient sounds, combined with minimal lighting, missed opportunities to create an immersive experience. The automation in the room felt underdeveloped, which affected the overall flow of the game. Some puzzle designs were frustrating, and the repetition of a puzzle concept from their trailer game suggests a need for more variety and creativity. The adjustable difficulty rating system, also present in this game, remains a questionable feature that doesn't seem to add value to the experience. While "School After Hours: The Final Rush" shows some progress compared to "Project Dark Cyber," it still has significant room for improvement. The game could benefit from more thoughtful puzzle design, better atmosphere creation, and improved player experience considerations.

Pros - Interesting room layout - Puzzle dense - One of the puzzles was really cool - Easy to find puzzles, so people don’t just walk around aimlessly trying to look for stuff - Charming premise - GM was super super nice and cute - Cheerleader armadillo is cute Cons - The puzzles are a lot of grunt work, feels like I’m a minimum wage worker or forced to do school worksheets - These aren’t puzzles, this is iSpy - Wish the room had music - Room is supposedly a high school, decoration definitely not - Main armadillo mascot is fascinating to look at in a semi-negative way 5.5/10 (I can see how others would like it, I don’t) (Honestly deserves a 7/10, it’s recommendable, but I personally hate eye spy and grunt work)

Would recommend playing this game on a harder level if just adults (we had a small child and wanted her to be able to participate as well so we picked the easiest difficulty level). Room was a good mix of high tech and low tech and was pleasantly surprised. Eager to return and get some more rooms done next time we’re in town
It was more high tech than I was expecting when we first walked in to it. Very pleasantly surprised

A basic school story line where you gotta get your assignment turned in before the teacher makes it back
Easy
On this run through we picked the easier of the three ways to play cause we had a child with us and wanted her to be able to participate and have fun
High tech
There was some surprisingly clever tech used that wasnt super obvious at first glance

Minus the tunnel
The first room would be a tight squeeze if someone was in a wheelchair. And the puzzle that pops down would also get in the way of chair access. We didn’t put the puzzle being referenced back up once we were done with it but it did have a hook I believe that would lift it out of the walkway

There are definitely some mixed feelings about this one. It was fine, but there were more red herrings in this room than I’ve seen in over 160 previous experiences. Some logic leaps, as well. Other than that, it was not bad.

Armadillos games are fun. We played on the “expert” level and it was quite a bit. Things flowed pretty well. We asked for one hint on a “duh” moment. The staff was very good and accommodating. The GM was on top of the gameplay. The only issue that I had with the game was there was no background track so I could hear staff running around outside of the room and it was dead silent when we were working. Everything worked as it should with some interesting tech. We enjoyed both rooms at armadillo Katy.
