Can you survive a horror film? This murderous horror movie fan wants to watch you try. Each player will take a quiz before the game to determine which character they are: The Nerd, Virgin, Jock, Rebel, Prom Queen, or Detective. Your team will be divided into separate rooms where you must work individually and as a team. Not only do you need to escape, but you must also survive! Who will live? Who will die?β

Love this game! It's replayable I've played three times and only escaped once!

The physical setup of this room is unique and I loved it. Lots of fun and clever puzzles, and many different types of puzzles as well. This is a room that really got my heart rate going. You kind of need 6 people to properly do this room, so thatβs what I would recommend. Must do room!

This is a really unique room with a fantastic concept. To pull it off as intended you need exactly six players. If you are able to make that happen, you should. Highly recommended.
This is a truly unique concept among escape rooms that I have seen β six players, each starting out in their own space, have to work by themselves but also figure out how to share information and items. I only ding it a bit because it felt like not all of the βcharactersβ got the same amount of puzzle content.

They can accommodate 5-10 but six is the intended and objectively correct number of players. Note that the βdetectiveβ role, which is the only one selected by the players as a group, is absolutely critical for the team to succeed. Do not take this choice lightly.
Spooky
Blood, gore, serial killer tropes, enclosed spaces, darkness.

One player has to crawl a bit, but if you arenβt able to crawl and make that clear at the beginning, the staff will set things up so that itβs not you.
Not accessible from what I could tell.

It truly does not get better than Hex Room. An incredible experience and so glad I got to do this room during Morty's Escape Room Roulette.

Ambiance was great. As a thriller escape room, it definitely gave scary/creepy vibes. Each room was unique and each person has to solve their own set of puzzles. So it felt like everyone pulled their own weight. Overall, the experience does require quite a bit of communication because there are rooms that need to communicate to each other through a middle man. I forgot to look into all 3/6 rooms, but the rooms that I did see seemed very unique and would be a great time.

Although, there are 6 rooms and you only need 6 people, we had 7 people. The extra person was put into the central room and made it less overwhelming.

Hex Room has persisted in the escape room scene for 8 years based on pure originality. No other room takes the risk in splitting up guests into 6 distinct environments and asking everyone to solve puzzles in unison - yet somehow it just WORKS. Definitely make sure you bring a team comfortable with a little bit of horror and that is willing to puzzle solo. If you can find the right team, hex room is something unique and special that you just donβt find everywhere, and the joy of escaping a horror movie together is truly worth the high entry bar. Kidnap your best group of 6 and bring them to LA to play this game!

It took my group and I 8+ years to finally do the Hex Room. After ages of hearing about how great it was, does the room live up to its hype and legendary status, given its age? Short answer: Yes. It. Does. What more can I say that hasn't been said already? The room is a perfect combination of creepy atmosphere, lovingly detailed set design, inventive puzzles, and thrilling story elements. Combine this with unique character driven gameplay, and you've got a game that can last a lifetime with strong replay value. Perfect for a group of 6, make sure to bring your strongest communicators. Team work is an absolute must. It also helps to bring friends who are willing to dive completely into their characters (dress up, roleplaying, the whole nine yards - what you put in is what you get, so may as well make the most it. Besides, who wouldn't want to live out as a tropey horror movie character?) As someone who has played many rooms across different generations since their inception, I am happy to report that Hex Room still lives up to its reputation and is one that can be enjoyed time and time again. So strap in, study up, and get ready - can you survive in a horror movie? Get your scream queen on and put your knowledge to the test against... The Hex Room!

The game features dimly lit rooms, which may make it difficult for those with difficulty seeing in dim light. Some areas may require crawling and/or crouching. One puzzle requires looking up, which may be difficult for those with neck/head issues.
