10 escape rooms

We visited Exmouth Escape Rooms as part of a surprise birthday day out and brought along two beginner players who had never played an escape room before. From the outset, Dan was an incredibly fun, welcoming and enthusiastic games master who clearly is passionate about the game, which was encouraging for our new members. The room was visually exciting and thematically perfect for the storyline, and the puzzles were just as impressive as the look of the room. We especially loved some of the moving elements and more physical puzzles, which we felt were incredibly unqiue to the game. All of us, including our new escape room members had such a positive experience and hope to play more games in the future. I would absolutely recommend this room as an introductory game for new players, it was a huge hit for our team! We look forward to coming and playing again soon! Thank you Dan and The Exmouth Escape Rooms :)

Gameplay

We loved the commitment to theme, the narrative fit well alongside it and made for an exciting and immersive escape room.

Atmosphere

The props and puzzles were particularly fun and fit the theme incredibly well. The room itself was incredibly atmospheric and immersive too. It is clearly well built and had such visually exciting design which is entirely on theme.

Customer service

We brought two new beginner escape room players to this game as an introductory escape room as part of a birthday surprise day out and we are so pleased this was their first experience of an escape room as it was such a positive one which made them want to play more. From the outset, Dan was incredibly welcoming, friendly and passionate about Exmouth Escape Rooms so we were all excited to get started and play the game.

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

We really loved the puzzles and mechanics of the game, it really elevated the traditional sherlock style theme and was such a great introduction into the escape room experience for the beginner players. They were particularly impressed by the fun and unique puzzles.

78 escape rooms

Was an enjoyable room, I think it was our quickest escape from a room. But for us it suited us and we were able to move through the room. The owners / GM were great and engaging. Some really good elements to the game that I’ve not seen before

Gameplay

Game flow was fine, everything made sense and linked back to the main theme. We were surprised we completed it in the time we did.

Atmosphere

Set design, props, etc all made sense and felt right for the situation.

Customer service

Both the owners were there when we arrived and were really friendly. GM was great, was there to offer hints as we needed. You can see they care about their rooms and the customers’ experience

Story

Good plot, that needed a level of thought applied. Also a start to the room that I’ve not had elsewhere.

Physically active

Somewhat

This is a relatively ‘chilled’ room in terms of physical activity. But there is a good amount of items to look through and items to find

Easy to find location

Yes

Parking

Medium

There are two East Devon Council car parks within a 5 minute walk from the location.

An enjoyable room with a fun start. Some interesting elements, but generally a high proportion of searching/processing rather than high volume or difficulty of puzzles. Perhaps a little underwhelming for experienced puzzlers
