It’s a Friday night in 1990 something, and you’re getting ready for a totally stellar weekend. You and your closest pals ordered a couple of pizzas, just finished watching TGIF. Everything is pretty radical — until you realize you forgot to return your VHS rental, again! At this point, the video store is closed for the night. You start buggin’ because if you get any more late fees, you’re gonna be majorly grounded. That means you'll totally miss the Sadie Hawkins dance next weekend and your biggest crush will be dancing with someone else! As if! Where did you even put that video tape……you asked your sister and she said “talk to the hand” You and your friends come together and are determined to get that tape back BEFORE it's late. Step one, locate the tape. Step two... Break into the video store and return the tape! Step three? DON’T GET CAUGHT! You only have a single hour to make it back before your folks catch you! Booyah! Okay home skillet, what are ya waiting for?! Can you navigate the nostalgia and get the video returned in time, or will your blast from the past be a big LAME - O!

Really in depth room and super nostalgic! Our game master Cooper was perfect! He really made the entire experience radical! Lol Multi-roomed, heavily themed experience with tones or 90s references.

Rating: 4/5 Millennials/90s kids will love this room! So many great 90s references are integrated into the puzzles and decor, but they can be solved without outside knowledge even if you aren't a 90s kid. The puzzles were enjoyable overall though our team of 2 did get stuck on a couple and needed hints. The puzzles were a mix of padlocks and some tech that fit the theme well, though I wasn't a fan of a couple of the puzzles. I really enjoyed the progression of the room through the multiple areas, the set was great, and completing the objectives was so satisfying. It's a good 2 person room, the game is fairly linear so I would recommend maybe 2-3 enthusiasts, definitely not more than 4. GMs were all very helpful and friendly. This room and the Sasquatch room are must-play rooms in the St Louis area. Between this and Sasquatch it's hard to pick a favorite. Sasquatch has easier puzzles and a more impressive set. The 90s room has more enjoyable references and a more fun story.

Very cool game with many references that brought back some memories of the 90’s. Puzzles were good and challenging. The GM and staff were nice and helpful throughout the experience. Definitely recommend and I will be back to play other games here.

The best 90s video store themed room I have played. Leaps and bounds better than any other room with this theme.

LOVED this experience. It was like being on a movie set where all the props, furniture, and decor were carefully chosen to be authentic to the 90's. There are small and big details in this room that are enjoyable to see on their own. Puzzles are creatively tied into the theme and narrative. I recommend that you do ALL the rooms here. The owners have struck the perfect balance of all the elements that make a great escape room.

Really fun throwback room several with different puzzle types. Total flashbacks in the blockbuster room to the days of three day rentals and late fees 😂

After nearly 300 rooms played all over the US, Boxed In has the best designed rooms of any small town we have played in. The set design of a 90s bedroom and video store was on point. Not all the puzzles hit it out of the park, but overall most of the puzzles, the flow, the nostalgia, and the set design made for a fantastically enjoyable game. We just wished they’d take the team photos in the rooms like so many other venues do these days.

I love the 90s, since that’s when I really remember my childhood, and this game brought back all the memories. Had a great time. Was a lot of fun.

This room was so much fun. Everything flowed well, and there were many easter eggs throughout the game. We got tripped up on some easy puzzles that made us laugh when we realized our mistake, but we made it in the nick of time. Millennials will enjoy this room a lot! Younger kids will miss out on the subtle references and may have difficulty with some puzzles, but this one is a must-do for millennials! Every puzzle flowed nicely, as with all of the games at Boxed In, and I will remember this room for years to come.
