The puzzles required teamwork and communication. With this theme, this is perfect for families!!!  We only had one adult and one child and I think it would have been even better with a larger family group, but still such a great bonding experience!

The atmosphere was great and the idea of the room was fantastic. The downfall of the room was the impact the game master had on our success. The girl who helped us get to our room had to finish setting up the room as we were in it, which led to us not realizing the keypad she touched was part of the room. The first button puzzle didn’t function as intended (despite us being warned about the poor functionality beforehand) and wasted over 5 minutes of our time just getting it to work. The next room featured the arbitrary clue system with the dog that depended on the game master hearing us properly and we waited around for 5-10 minutes until they decided to talk to us again. Having to literally bark/howl to progress had no indicator that we were supposed to do it until the game master /decided/ it was time to tell us that. There’s a phone in the 2nd room that had no real function unless the game master decided that you pressed the right numbers and then would speak. (I could be negatively biased on that end because I am hearing impaired and didn’t understand the person on the other end. And when I asked that he repeat himself I passed the phone to another person who figured out it was just a slang term. The phone at that time was just a red herring.) Overall the arbitrary clue system led to chunks of wasted time and it felt like our success had nothing to do with us figuring out puzzles, just luck and the grace of the GM. I do want to reiterate that the room was themed VERY well and I’m sure would be fun for larger groups or low stakes parties. I went into this expecting a challenge and instead of solving hard puzzles, ran into RNG.

In terms of atmosphere, this was one of the best escape rooms we have ever visited. I’m guessing that accounts for all of the positive reviews. But in terms of gameplay, it was by far the worst. 

The instructions are literally, “You will need to run back to the first room very often to get hints because you cannot solve the room without those hints.” There are two other built-in cluing systems the designers could have used, but no - you have to remember to run back to the starting room every 90 seconds. Another example of the mediocre game design: you redo the same puzzle at least 3 times.

There is also a keep-away game that seems fun at first…but also eats up 4+ minutes of your game time. Creative team, A+. Game designers, D-.

Pups Rescue has been on our radar and the game was very fun to play! The set design was awesome - so many fun rooms and spaces to navigate. We were warned it may be tough for 2 people and it was. The theme was cute, endearing, and very fun. We recommend!
