IRIS is a world-first artificial intelligence program – a computing advancement that Exodine can’t afford to have offline. Shut down by a bitter employee trying to sabotage the company’s success, your team has been sent in to get the IRIS system back up… but maybe the employee wasn’t so bitter after all.

I really enjoyed the storyline of this room. I felt like I was an IT engineer/technician on assignment with a coworker to fix a fault with the computer system & artificial intelligence program. The occasional comments from IRIS and later on panicky messages from the Exodyne employees created a sense of creepiness and later urgency, that I found quite exciting. I appreciated the set up (it looked like a real office and server room) and the special effects. There was an order of tasks we had to complete, as displayed by the computer, which enhanced the immersive experience. This was a fun and at times exciting room.
Immersive set up that was congruent with the story.

Great story & plot twist.

Probably the most creative room at Red Herring, Shutdown has a pretty decent flow and quantity of puzzles although they don’t exactly gel with the conservative 50 minute time limit. The game itself can get a little confusing when it comes to direction but most of the solves were really satisfying once everything clicked. Great experience if you’re into tech/AI but not ideal if you’re a more traditional/mechanical player. The staff there were lovely and happy to have a chat post-game!
