Imagine you are standing in a sarcophagus where you have enough space to move and look around. You don't see your partner anymore, even though you were just together. But wait! You do hear his voice not far from you. Actually, you just wanted to play a "normal" Escape Room, but our "Mummified" game is definitely not! This game is all about you and your teammates - only two people can solve the puzzles, only two people can escape from the Egyptian burial chamber. Never before has a game of ours been so much about teamwork as this one. Communication and initiative are the key to success. Although .... there are no keys in this game. No locks either because you will find yourself in an ancient Egypt setting. A lot of other secret mechanisms and many puzzles await you.

Really fun game that prooves that you don’t need a lot of space for a good experience. The puzzles are the main reason to play this room and we’ve had so much fun solving them, especially in the first half. It is a two person game so choose your team-mate wisely because they will make a lot of the expeirence. I very much recommend this one, it might be my new favourite in Vienna.

As soon as we walked in, it was clear that the entire Exitrooms team runs the venue with a lot of love and dedication. The decor and layout of the entrance area were cohesive and top-notch, the restrooms were clean, and there were plenty of lockers for valuables, jackets, etc. The staff were also very friendly and enthusiastic. A big thank you to Clarissa for the great service! The room itself was thrilling and exciting, with puzzles ranging from easy to difficult. All in all, the difficulty level built up nicely throughout the game. The room is designed for only two players and relies heavily on teamwork and communication. The mechanics of the individual puzzles worked flawlessly. Light and audio cues let players know if they’re on the right track. For my girlfriend and me, it was a great experience, since we’d only ever played at Exitrooms in groups with other couples before.

Gameplay

Great puzzles, solid mechanics. Fantastic pacing.

Atmosphere

A beautifully designed room. The compartments, drawers, etc., were extremely well hidden. It really captured the Egyptian vibe!

A strictly two-player game, which uses a quite small space very cleverly. The puzzles were unusual, but in a couple of cases a little “undercooked” - we had one puzzle we solved before finding all of the pieces “necessary”, and one where the tool provided was low quality and it made the puzzle very finicky to solve. The “twist” at the end was very predictable - in fact I did predict it before we went into the room, and annoyingly, it had no impact on the puzzles at all, so it could have been a much more creative answer to the question. With a little bit more effort this rooms could easily be turned into a “love” rating. As is I still recommend it if you happen to be in town with a 2nd escape enthusiast.

Highest recommendation. It’s rare to find a game designed for exactly two players, and even rarer to find one where the division of labor and information is balanced so that both players are fully engaged throughout the experience. This game does a nearly perfect job — it’s my favorite two-player game of all time. Every puzzle (and the game is a nonstop puzzlefest) requires the two players to collaborate, share information, and work together. There’s a story but it’s not the main focus: you’re trapped in separate deathtrap rooms in an ancient pyramid and you need to work together to get out. Do note that they really do mean it when they say it is for exactly two players. There’s not enough room for more people and honestly the design is just right. If you want to know whether you’re on the same wavelength as someone, this game would be a great way to find out!

Accessibility

Would not be wheelchair accessible — the game uses the floor, walls, and ceiling at various heights. Some clues require audio. A written diary (everything is in both German and English) includes important information. Players can only communicate by talking to one another through a wall for much of the game.

One of my favourite games ever! The game uses its very small footprint brilliantly, and the fact that it’s designed for exactly two players makes for a great experience. The story and atmosphere of the room are great, make sense and there’s even an unexpected twist along the way. The space is very small, and filled with puzzles, but still flows really well, which speaks volume for the game design. We loved that the puzzles really force you to work and communicate well with your partner. It never becomes boring for one of you as the other is solving something, as you’re always solving things together. Our host was also very nice, and even remembered our names for giving clear hints =) We’ll definitely come back every time we’re in Vienna!
