I was told by a few GMs to do this room and when I found out this location was closing it was time to play it. The set design was great but you could tell it was an older room. This was a pretty challenging room and we really pushed ourselves on this.

This was the worst experience I had doing an escape room by far. The puzzles in this room were almost entirely not fun. The set was quite underwhelming for a room that is called World of Illusion. Uninspired at best. Our GM was visibly over it and didn't care at all. Literally everything was disappointing. Highly recommend to just go anywhere else. Probably won't even give their other rooms a try, definitely not in the near future.

Has seen better days (set, tech, and game experience) as it closes this week.

Good time! Not entirely intuitive. You can be very onto the clue and what to do but it needs a little more.

Out of all the rooms in this location, this experience has the most impressive set design. However, the technology lagged for us enough times that we left with mixed feelings. There were puzzles that felt like a stretch for me. Storyline was confusing. Our game master was really sweet and she set the stage for us that we were apprentices looking to prove ourselves to be worthy of more magic. Then we were thrown into the room with no support. Lots of red herrings. The puzzles that we ended up working on were magic-related but they didn’t come together coherently other than the end where you had to put the pieces together. The ending did not have that satisfying “ta-da” moment. Granted, some of the puzzles were cool and I appreciated the insight after the fact. However, the ones that we required hints for turned out to be mechanisms that did not trigger because we were not precise enough in the timing or it was super finnicky. That to me, is a sign that the mechanisms could be reset for a better experience. Still a great time with superb customer service and the production design but otherwise, I would rather do the One Way Train 🚂 in this location. It’s an average room for sure that I would opt to do other ones for but not the worst either.

This is a tough review. First off, I was misled by the recent reviews before mine, all created by MazeRoom bots/fake accounts (generic name followed by #'s), that have only rated MazeRoom rooms with generic positive reviews. They seem to be drawing attention to their games that might need a bit more publicity... Anyways, our experience itself. It's as mixed as the ratings are. All the 'fake' reviews mention a lot of illusions and use of perspective. Uhm... no lol. There were cool moments and a handful of solid puzzles in this room, so they can definitely be appreciated. The storyline isn't really there, and the ending isn't satisfying in relation to it. There was another review that said this room took 'nonlinearity' and instead made it 'nonlogical'. I somewhat agree with that because to me, some things didn't really logically click at all, which ruins flow a bit. At least in these moments, when we asked for hints, the GM did provide good hints that got us going again. The room atmosphere and set design is there. It's dark and mysterious. Lots of props and set design related to magic, magicians, etc. There were a few mechanisms that were cool and new to us, so we appreciated that. There were a couple mechanisms that seemed especially finnicky and requiring fine precision from you, and that was somewhat frustrating when we had to redo it multiple times for it to be recognized/triggered. There were also a couple things in the room that serve absolutely no purpose at all and were just distractions, which we haven't really ever seen. We definitely wasted some time on what was essentially distracting decor. Overall, a mixed experience with some cool moments/mechanisms in a solid setting but with choppy flow, finnicky mechanics, and an unsatisfying storyline/ending. It's an escape room to do, but it's not near the top of our lists, but also not the worst.

Our GM was the most nonchalant we've had in a long while. But he was solid in-game when we needed hints

We only escaped due to our kind GM Dakota who gave us 5 extra minutes. I appreciated that the puzzles in this room felt different than the puzzles in many other rooms, however I did feel like some of the clues were fairly obtuse. We were a team of three escape room enthusiasts and we rarely ask for hints but I think we legitimately asked for four hints to get through this one. I appreciated the production value and the novelty

Overall this was a good room with some challenging and unique puzzles. I enjoyed that they weren’t as obvious as a lot of others. I would have given this room a ❤️ if there had been more puzzles. As it is, we got out with 21 minutes left on the clock, as 2 enthusiasts who were not trying to rush. We asked for no hints, however, we did get a couple unprompted nudges, which would have been fine if we were at risk of not escaping, but when you get out with so much time left on the clock, ends up feeling like you wasted your money a bit. Even without the nudges, we probably would have gotten out with 15 minutes or so left, so I just wish this room had a few more puzzles to it.

Story
Just another magician’s room, if you have done one before. Not much of a story here.

I would call this Hard if there had been more puzzles to fill out our hour in the room, but because we got out with 20 minutes to spare, I have to say Medium.

We played as 2 enthusiasts who were not trying to rush and we still got out with 21 minutes remaining and using no hints. For less experienced players, I could see this being a challenging room, so maybe up to 4 people would be good.

I’m surprised this room is rated as highly as it is. I was hoping, as an enthusiast for it to live onto the hype. This game has fun technology and some clever elements, but this room mistakes the concept of being non-linear for being non- logical in its connections. While the decor is well done, immersion is lost because the story starts flat, doesnt carry in the puzzles and has no meaningful pay off. Additionally, some puzzles are so tedious that the many red herrings in the room can prevent making timely progress.

The game master was non-chalant in a way that made the start lack excitement and the hints feel like they drew us out of the game instead of more deeply into it.
