The Tarzana Maze Rooms is closing which gave my group the excuse to make the trek and try the 2 rooms here we hadn’t done. Starting with Vampire, the harder of the two, was a good idea. Sometimes rooms are described as hard but don’t give seasoned players a challenge - this was not one of those times. 2 spots specifically me and my group had to ask for a clue but neither time felt impossible to solve or taking an leap in logic. The rooms were very spacious and eclectic for an escape game, especially with the commonly-used vampire theme.

It had a slow start, but picked up a lot. The last puzzle in this room was pretty neat and surprising. However, I was frustrated with the way our game went because we spent probably 10 minutes working with props from a puzzle they had removed because there were only 4 of us and I guess they thought it was too hard with only 4 even though that seemed like the perfect number of people?? Idk it made no sense. But there were some really fun elements too!

This room is great for slightly larger groups (perhaps inching toward 6-8 as opposed to the more common 4). There’s a lot to do and there are elements that really do require 4 players at a minimum. This means that there are a lot of opportunities across a sprawling room to run back-and-forth or to shout out things to each other to try and be more efficient. Definitely a teamwork oriented game (in a very good way!). Some creative interactive things are built in for some fun surprises…really great and on point for the vampire theme. :)

OK maybe Im biased because we had a rare non-escape here but I didn’t love this room. When the game master told us what we missed there were plenty of eye rolls because of unclear clues
