411 escape rooms

This is a fairly old school execution compared to the many highly immersive games found in the industry. A simply designed set with a fair number of puzzles. The game is showing some wear and tear, but gameplay was fun and logical. Puzzles weren’t particularly ground breaking or super well aligned to the theme. Maybe we were in a collectors library? But the decor was very sparse and spare and the intro was in a language I can’t speak so I’m not really sure. The theme itself was at best loosely held together by the games title. My expectations were low as there were no reviews here and only a few on google. As someone who has played games across the spectrum I really felt that this was a sincere attempt that delivers an okay experience, but won’t blow your mind. The props and puzzles are earnest, but the result is mediocre. We had fun. We did a good number of puzzles. We escaped as a team of two.

Gameplay

Basic, largely analog puzzles that were linear in format. Nothing groundbreaking, but everything made logical sense. This is where Morty fails me. I need a meh button. I liked the game overall, because I like playing escape games. I gave the game a thumbs up, but there were some issues that I want to mention for anyone who plays in the future There were a couple elements not translated into English, which made for clumsy deliver via the clue system. It made us feel as if we had missed something. But truth be told, the story line isn’t really important. The room is too dark with some clues that are additionally hard to read due to wear and tear. We eventually had to pull out our phones and use them as flashlights to solve one puzzle because it was impossible to see. I’d been doing the right thing, but had the wrong answer simply because I couldn’t see letters correctly.

Atmosphere

Basic and home grown design. Nothing special. Could use some improvements and more thematic elements to create more immersion. The only other game we played in Sicily was a chain franchise. We paid the same amount of money for a much more visually engaging experience. That said, I’m aware not every escape game has a budget for wild sets and high tech puzzles. There’s a place for both. But this game has room for improvement.

Customer service

Super sweet couple who did their best to accommodate us despite them only speaking Italian and us only speaking English. One of them came to the parking lot in a motorcycle and directed us to the back of the building for the entrance.

Particularly interesting or different

No

Story

It was in Italian only so no idea

Difficulty

Medium

Would have been easier if it wasn’t so dark. We also didn’t get a clue early on because it was only in Italian. Eventually it was offered up via the clue system, but seemed delayed and still we had some trouble with the translation.

Ideal number of players

Definitely better for a small group.

Scary

Not scary

Was anything broken?

No

No, but clues are worn so it’s hard to read letters that are important.

Live actors

No

Physically active

Somewhat

Must be able to crawl through a hole. No surface area for a couple puzzles so we used the ground.

Easy to find location

No

The main address wasn’t hard to find, but the building is very large and the entrance was gated when we arrived. We used the call button and got in easily but still needed assistance to find parking and entrance.
