The Storm

Rating: 3.5/5 - Cool set, homage to Twister, but puzzles weren't great Pros: ➕Love the theme, it's clearly inspired by the 90s Twister movie ➕Set. lighting, ambient audio, and special effects looked great, everything was weathered appropriately, it felt immersive ➕Almost all tech (buttons, maglocks), only 1 combo lock ➕Story and characters were enjoyable and videos were well done. ➕I liked how a cell phone was used in the game ➕Multiple rooms to explore ➕GM was friendly and helpful when needed Could be better: ➖Too dark, it was hard to find and read things. I wish they provided flashlights ➖Puzzles were mediocre at best. 60 to Escape tends to do a lot of puzzles involving counting or pushing/pulling things in order which can get repetitive. ➖Too much was available before we had all the information needed to solve. ➖Ending was a bit anti-climactic, the final puzzle felt like it had too many ways to interpret it which killed our momentum. ➖No animatronics like many of 60 to Escapes other rooms, they have spoiled me 😅 I'd recommend 2-3 enthusiasts, we finished as a team of 2 with around 5-10 min left. One player will need to crawl. No jump scares, but there are some loud noises. My ranking of 60 to Escape rooms (all locations) starting with my favorite. 1. Lockbuster Video ❤️ 2. Did not care for the room. Sure the effects were ok, and the story was nice, but the puzzles were rough, and isn’t that the main reason so are going there?

I'm not sure if this room has changed at some point - the story doesn't match the one on listed on Morty (the story now in the room is that you're a storm chaser, not an evil henchman). I've done three of the 60 to Escape puzzles in Schaumburg and this is definitely weaker than all of them. The set, as always, was great but the puzzles aren't intuitive, there are red herrings in the rooms you don't use, and there was one visual puzzle we couldn't see at all. Overall this room was pretty frustrating and not the best experience.

The set was the most impressive thing about the room. Hands down, fantastic. The issue here was some of the puzzles didn’t either make sense or you didn’t really know how to start. That was the difference between a like and a love for us. Glad we did it!

2nd timing visiting 60 to Escape’s Milwaukee location and The Storm was another fantastic experience. We have done all 6 Woodfield rooms and 5 of the 7 Gurnee rooms, so we knew this would be another great room. The Storm had an impressive set design and multiple rooms to explore. There was lots of fun tech used in the rooms and the “storm conditions” made you feel like you were on a farm, and in a farmhouse, during a tornado. There were fun tie-ins with some movies, and there was one puzzle that you had to be very observant at the correct moment. The room did not have as many puzzles as some of 60’s other rooms, and we could not get into a great flow like we usually do. We went down the wrong path with one puzzle and it used up a lot of time. We had an “off” night with our solving skills, but, luckily, this was an easier room and our GM (Molly) provided some timely hints to ensure we would not get swept away in The Storm. As usual, customer service was fantastic and everyone we interacted with upon our arrival was really fun to talk with. The Storm was another great room from 60 to Escape.

Our group ran all of these rooms and we started with this room. I would say this is a good room to start with if you also want to play multiple games here!

This is probably the weakest room at this location and also the weakest between the Schaumburg location and this one. However, it’s still above average when compared to other companies. Everything flowed very well, and the gameplay was clear. It was also immersive and a unique take on the theme. We escaped with about 7 minutes left and no hints used as a party of 4.

I was not expecting to love this room as much as I did but they took a relatively unique theme and really explored the implications for all they were worth. Looked great. Excellent atmospheric effects. Very fun and occasionally clever puzzles.
