Onboard the famous trans-European Budapest Express, you are with Karine Peaufiner, a famous French detective from Paris. You are traveling to Budapest to meet with other detectives showcasing the latest developments in crime scene forensics. It is nighttime and you are passing slowly through the heart of Europe during a heavy snowstorm. You are reviewing case notes in your cabin with Karine and your colleagues. Suddenly there is a knock at the door, it is the train manager. He looks worried and asks you to come quickly to the First Class dining coach. When you arrive, you see a man slumped over a restaurant table. He was Sir Clarence Hayden and he has been murdered! The manager informs you that in one hour the train will stop at the next station, if the killer hasn’t been apprehended, they will be free to escape into the night and get away with this horrible crime! Your reputation as brilliant detectives precedes you, he asks you to solve the crime so the murderer can be caught and brought to justice. You’re able to narrow down 5 suspects who were seen in the dining car around the time Sir Clarence was murdered. Moving through the cabins and gathering evidence, the killer knows you are hot on their trail and has decided you are their next target. With you out of the picture, they would be free to escape when the train stops. Solve the riddles and puzzles, gather the evidence and solve the murder before it’s too late! Do you have what it takes to find the killer before they find you? Time is of the essence!

They have some pretty good rooms… just need to change them out more often and maybe stay up to date with broken stuff cause there’s been times I’ve gone and stuff doesn’t open

A good room with a neat set design. As other reviews have said, moving items around in this room can possibly hamper you for the final puzzle if you don’t really remember where you got stuff from and I think that’s what ultimately made me go with like it over love it rating on here.

The murder mystery aspect and how it was used for the final puzzle was nice.

This was one of the first rooms we ever did at Escapology - and we loved it. This one is just the right amount of difficult where it’s still super do-able and you get a lot of satisfaction from completing the puzzles. The atmosphere and story is classic, and very immersive. I loved it.
The gameplay on this was great - the room was very linear
The atmosphere was really well done

Super fun room! Really enjoyed the storyline of this room and thought this room moved quickly. Our group of 4 easily managed this room and had a lot of fun while doing it :)
A lot of fun! Thought these puzzles were complex but logical.
Great space!
Great team at Escapology as always.

Atmosphere was really nice. I mean as soon as I walked in I loved it! They did great with that. The game flowed well, didn’t even need hints… until we got to the end which really left a sour taste in my mouth about this room, which stinks because it has so much potential. So naturally in an escape room you open everything up and use what you need. What you don’t use you either put it in a pile and/or drag it with you or what you have it, right? Well, we did that. So when it came to the final part to solve the mystery we couldn’t do it alone. There was waaay too much to remember. So I recommend they just make the effort to tell the players before starting to not separate things that they go through like bags, suitcases, etc. to leave everything where they find it… because if not the last and most important puzzle is impossible without a hint giving you the answer.
Flowed well until the end 😐
I really did like the atmosphere! Set was well done
Welcoming but during the game not as attentive as I wish they’d be ):

Fantastic room. Not much else to say. The clues and rooms flow smoothly and there’s little in the way of overly ambitious tech to risk malfunctioning. Amazing atmosphere, the tech that is used works flawlessly and in an unobtrusive way, and everything you’ve found helps solve the mystery in one way or another by the very end.
Yes
Clues are revealed in interesting ways later in the game.
Hard
Difficulty is subjective but depending on your group, the last room hits you with a logic puzzle in order to resolve the mystery based on all you’ve already found. If that’s your speed you’ll be fine, if not, it may be a bit tough.
