We never received our post-game photo, but I snapped a pic of the building's vibey exterior. I'll give the game a "like," since there were aspects that I really loved, and others that missed the mark. The set? Sprawling and authentically creepy. It's no secret that the creators built an entire village, and they utilized the space in some cool ways that made it feel even bigger. Fog machines were on full blast, which blurred the edges of the set even further and made navigation tricky. I would solidly recommend against playing this room if you have difficulty seeing in low light, or have respiratory problems, since the space was choked with so much fog. The denizens of the village were pretty creepy and appeared in some surprising ways, definitely scaring us a few times. I would have liked more cinematic scenes, since the few that we witnessed were pretty cool. We had a great post-game chat with one of the actors, and our GM even showed us around a bit. Unfortunately the puzzles were the weakest component of the experience. Out of the 6 escape games we played in Athens, they were definitely the worst. They were either too easy, too confusing, or somehow both of those things at the same time. Almost all the puzzles had some sort of issue: either the solution was in plain sight but obscured by darkness, or the cluing was vague or nonexistent, or the props were confusing to interpret, or the resulting solution was difficult to implement. The finale could also use a little more pizazz too. It had tremendous potential for high drama, but it felt kinda flat and unenthusiastic. This room has a great concept, great bones, and great staff, but it’s in sore need of an update. With some refreshed puzzles and more dramatic plot it could really be stellar.
