Pasadena Wizarding Academy

This company is not a franchise and very much feels like a mom & pop company however, we felt very welcomed and got to chat a good bit with the employee. It was not busy at all when we were there, which worked in our favor as we were given 8-ish extra minutes to help escape our room. I didn’t love that the only way to ask for clues was to open the door and yell for the attendant but I would still return and try another room! It’s very local for us and makes for a nice date night out where we don’t have to go far. They also sell games and puzzles.

Highly NOT recommended room and venue....it was well designed but very poorly put together. Many puzzles/locks didn't work. One puzzle was so worn it was illegible for use. The game master had to come in multiple times to fix things resulting in her having to complete most of the locks/puzzles as we played due to known lack of function by the venue which should have closed the room till they fixed it. An the game master CONSTANTLY, like every 5 minutes, asked if we needed help to the point we had to request she leave us be tilled we asked for her because her interuptions prevented us from at least 15 minutes of game play. When we left she asked our opinion and recommended leaving it to the player to seek help versus interupting their play to offer unrequested input. She said nearly verbatim, she prided herself in making the room as frustrating as possible because it made it fun for her.

This was a fun game very local to us! Very immersive with authentic props and set design. While other wizarding rooms may have had more tech elements, we greatly enjoyed the traditional game moments this room provided! Escape Proving Ground has an expansive store chock full of puzzles, games, and activities for enthusiasts - my partner and I were super impressed (and excited) to see these offerings! We plan on returning.
