SCIENTISTS THAT ARE ZOMBIES???? ZOMBIE SCIENTISTS?! An interesting little addition to the Fox in a Box line up, Zombie Lab was a very science-y, attention to detail oriented experience. It comes packed with all the usual bits and pieces that make up a zombie outbreak room; a cure to be made, body parts, blood everywhere, from a narrative standpoint it was exactly what it needed to be and nothing more. This however, didn’t stop the 5-6 minute instructional video from kicking off the experience. I’m talking massive chunks of info just kinda thrown at players through a tv screen over the top of a bland breaking news edit. And while this wouldn’t usually be the end of the world for me, I think what’s disappointing is that Fox in a Box actually utilise fun (in-character) GM interactions for most of their other rooms. Loud prison guards, evil serial killers, heist planners, all exciting personalities adding an entertaining intro to the play through, but Zombie Lab? Nah. Very weird. The room itself and puzzles were fine, tricky without being non-sensical. Had a minor tech hiccup with the last puzzle which cost us the all time record but hey, heavy is the zombie head that wears the zombie crown. 6.4/10 🔏🧩
