The best part of the room was the friendly staff and the in-character GM, who explains why players are there and can banter a little. This is a gen 1 room (i.e. lots of combination or key locks) and feels like a room from the early days. The set is minimal - enough to give a sense of what the designer was going for, but not nearly immersive. One unusual thing about the room that I've never seen before (I don't know if this was common during early escape rooms) was there was a subtle storyline implied by the props and notes - it wasn't something we were told to look for beforehand, but at the end the GM asked if we had figured out the answer to a few questions, which we had.

I love seeing the difference between family-ran escape rooms and larger company ones. This is the former, and you can feel the family-run charm in every moment. I have never smiled so much before the game even started. The owners/GMs do an incredible job getting into character and immersing you in the game before it starts. Additionally- I’ve never seen another escape room with this type of theme, so I appreciate the uniqueness. What they may lack in high-tech puzzles, they definitely make up for in friendly service and fun games

This company bases all of its rooms on history or classic literature. Which leads to a little bit of trying-to-be-educational feel to the experience. I wish they were willing to take a little more creative license with their material. (For example, they aren’t using tech because it didn’t exist at the time. But I say “so what? Escape rooms didn’t exist at the time either.) The puzzles were enjoyable, but pretty basic compared to the other rooms at this location. The best part of all of this company’s rooms were the in character GMs. Some excellent theatrics on this room in particular. The staff was fantastic, happy to talk about what they did, their design decisions, etc.
