234 escape rooms
School of Burning Souls was the 13th game of our Bavarian Escape Tour and the last one of a long, intense day, our 4th room of the day. We played in a group of 3, which made the experience even more intense. This is a room fully focused on scaring you, and it does that exceptionally well. The environment is consistently dark and vast, heightening the tension and keeping you on edge from start to finish. The room isn’t about beautiful set design; it’s about creating a relentless, fear-inducing atmosphere, and in that, it completely succeeds. Given the late hour, the heat inside, and our fatigue, we struggled to keep the collaboration tight, especially during one particular segment that really tested us. The puzzles felt harder than typical horror rooms, but maybe it was because of our specific circumstances mentioned above. The GM was incredibly kind and accommodating, giving us 30 extra minutes to complete the room. We ended up finishing in just under 2 hours, which really allowed us to experience it fully despite the setbacks. Looking back, we probably would’ve enjoyed it a lot more under different conditions, earlier in the day, with a fresher mind, and in a team of 4. Recommended for horror fans who like their escape rooms on the intense and scary side (think Dark Forest or Asylum). Go in prepared, keeps you on your toes.
