Months have gone by since five friends vanished without a trace. Four of the missing individuals have been discovered in separate locations across the frozen hills, indicating potential foul play. Law enforcement suspects that the fifth friend, whose remains have not been found, is responsible for the crimes. Despite an extensive search, the authorities believe that the final survivor has also perished, labeling the case as a cold one and closing it. However, you have a different hypothesis. One of the four bodies found was located inside an old cabin known for a terrifying tale from the 1950s. The story goes that a man went insane and murdered his entire family and anyone who came close to the cabin. Despite his confession, the authorities never located the bodies from that crime, and the perpetrator was sentenced to death and locked up in a mental institution. Until his dying breath, he insisted that the house was haunted, and the spirits made him commit the gruesome acts of violence. Determined to uncover the truth, you and your friends venture into the hills to locate the infamous cabin and search for any signs of your missing friend. However, as you approach the cabin, you begin to feel lightheaded and pass out one by one. When you come to, you realize that your face is covered, and you can only use one hand. To make matters worse, some members of your group are missing. Can you locate your friends, find your missing companion, and escape before suffering the same fate as the family from the eerie tale? * Previously at Clever Fox in Menifee, CA.*

The room was fun. Shock collar can get annoying at points. Scary because of the actor, but has adult themes at points

Only choose this room if you are okay with being shocked roughly once every 5 minutes. Sometimes for no reason too. Try to get joseph as your GM maybe for others the shock collar wasn't as bad, but this is just expressing our personal experience.
Gameplay
Gameplay was not the greatest. I know there are some chill game masters but our game master shocked us through the collars for no reason whatsoever. We sat down to take a break? Got a nice shock through the collar and he said over the intercom “what are you doing sitting down” Group not making enough progress fast enough? Both the guys wearing shock collars got a shock. Sometimes just randomly shocking us to test if they are working. I heard other game masters like Joseph are great, but be careful if you get David. When David came in for the interactive haunt, he grabbed someone in our group and violently sniffed her face behind what he explained at the start was a reasonable expectation for touching.
Atmosphere
the game master did not let us leave and tried to put the shock collars back on us when we took them off
Customer service
Staff was welcoming but our game master did not seem to like us during the game. Criticizing us for moving slowly, saying things like "what are you doing?! theres four of you" when we stood around and delivering a shock.
Game tech
Game was also bugged two puzzles were solved when we came in the room.

I had a great time. Really nice balance of puzzles and spooky actor moments. Our host Joseph was great! We were a bit slow to get started at the beginning, but the puzzles flowed really well after we figured it out. They have some improvements planned in the near future that will make it even better. Shock collar was super fun.

I really enjoyed how this was scary but not to the point of making me completely anxious the entire experience. I was still able to focus on the puzzles despite being a bit spooked! But the times they did get me, they got me real good lol. Joseph was great! He nudged us in the right direction when he knew we were close or that we maybe missed something but didn’t over step. I do recommend maybe 3-4 people max personally, I could see it getting cramped in there. 2 was good for us! They’re also generous with discount codes for later visits! Highly recommend

This room was SO FUN! Horror rooms are our favorite, the puzzles aren’t incredibly hard, but with your adrenaline pumping it makes it easy to get discombobulated. The live actor in this is superb and definitely ensures you get your $ worth for the experience, he had me terrified that we wouldn’t make it out alive 😂 10/10 do this room!

This room is great. Considering it has mainly gen 1 tech, it is superb. There is a live actor that is done well and keeps it fun. Great room for smaller teams. We did it with 2 and had less than five minutes left when we finished. I will say, it may be challenging for newer teams because you’re only allowed 3 clues, so be aware!

Amazing room the gm makes the whole experience. Very well done and you have to work together as you will be split up upon the start of your game. 100% will be doing more rooms with no.1 escape. You can tell that the owner takes pride in escape. Highly recommend this room.

Cold Case is the peak scariest room I’ve ever experienced. In the description, it looks as if you are stumbling upon a cold case but expect more of a hostage breakout situation. Lucas, our game master, gave us the fright of our lives. He spent a long time explaining the rules - but I think he accomplished his goal of setting the stage and hyping us up for the adrenaline rush. I was pretty convinced that I will not make it out alive after the orientation. We were chained up and they put bags over our heads. If you love puzzles, this room has more of the live actor interaction than the puzzles themselves. They have a well oiled machine so that groups get the most out of their hour. They will come in more frequently if your group is solving the puzzles too quickly. So just know that coming in - 70% live actor immersion, 30% puzzles. Clever Fox Escape Rooms would easily be one of my favorite “horror” rooms - and I’ve done the classic scary ones (Zoe Reborn, Project Minotaur, Resurrection, etc.) You can tell that the game masters and the owners really do care about their rooms and they are proud of what they’ve designed. It’s not a high budget room by any means but you will get your monies worth in scares. I’m excited to come back and try their other rooms. Again, shout out to Lucas for helping us celebrate our friend’s birthday with a memorable experience!
