The year is 1990, and Odette DeLaporte has invited you to her study. As the last remaining heir in New Orleans to the DeLaporte fortune, she needs your help locating a treasure which went missing a long time ago. The reclusive matriarch has not been seen in public for quite some time, yet she has agreed to meet with you with the hope that you can recover what’s been lost.

Rating: 3/5 - Interesting vibe at this company, but this room is just OK in 2026 Pros: ➕ Immersion starts at the entrance to the building, the GM played a character for the intro. ➕ The building itself was interesting and had an unique vibe for an escape room company. ➕ Puzzles were decent, but nothing particularly fun. ➕ Set looked appropriate to the theme with lots of antique items. ➕ More than a single room to explore. ➕ Mostly padlock based, but had some minor tech ➕ GM was friendly, though we didn't really need any hints. Room for improvement: ➖Overall the room and puzzle style just feels dated in 2026. Their website says this room opened in 2015 and it does feel like a 10+ year old room. ➖ The quality of room vs. the price of the ticket is not good, especially with only 2-3 players. These are some of the most expensive rooms (per player) in New Orleans/Baton Rouge area while having some of the least impressive sets and gameplay. We played as a team of 3 enthusiasts and finished with a lot of time left, it is not a difficult room, I'd recommend 2-3 enthusiasts. My ranking of all 3 rooms I played here (Inventor's Attic wasn't open): 1. Smuggler's Den 2. Jazz Parlor 3. Mardi Gras Study

Fun mostly gen 1 room with minimal tech and mostly key locks or number/letter locks. They had a few unique puzzles and one of the combo locks was cool and different. I’m not particularly sure why it was nominated to be a terpeca room in 2025. I think more than the room itself, I liked the vibe of the house the company was located in. Apparently it was a mortuary in the past which our game master didn’t mention until we were all done playing (probably for good reason lol). Some of the puzzles had very small lettering that was hard to see. I can see why people would love this room years into the past, but in today’s day and age, it doesn’t really compare to the other escape room offerings in the area. Game master was in character pretty much the whole time, although the story was kind of confusing. I would come here for the mysterious vibes of the location more than the rooms, but play the rooms while you’re here! My ranking of the games at this location: 1. Jazz parlor 2. Mardi Gras study 3. Smuggler’s den

Old school escape room vibes, but the space was used brilliantly. Honestly more challenging than one might expect, and some of the text can be very small. Pretty solid room!

Reminded me of escape rooms before they added a lot of tech elements.

Beautiful theming. I loved the decorations in the historic building. Puzzles were mostly manual. Nothing too high tech

There was one puzzle that wasn’t locked in and my group spent some time trying to solve a puzzle for it. The GM did handle it well.

Found this to be the most obscure of the rooms here. Interesting theming and a solid payoff but some of the actual puzzling felt more chore than fun

We played this right after Jazz Parlor which is a follow-up in the overarching storyline. It's an older game, mostly mechanical, but don't let that stop you. This was an enjoyable experience. I will say it's quite a bit easier than Jazz Parlor and we breezed right through with at least twenty minutes to spare. (Glad we did too, because that let us return to Parlor and play the bonus puzzles-see my other review.) MG Study had a very nice flow and all puzzles made sense & were pretty intuitive. The room matched the overall company, a room in an eclectic New Orleans mansion. Escape My Room is a fun company to check out if you are in New Orleans. I'd recommend you do both Parlor and Study. We didn't do their Smuggler's Den due to a time crunch and it seemed the high reviews came from a the novelty of a dark room. From a story standpoint, Parlor first. From an easy to hard plan, Study first.

You're trying to get a message out before it's too late. Fortunately for you, the madame is a fan of puzzles and has her place setup so that only the best can reach her. As you explore her place, it's filled with her collections and nods to New Orleans. It's a charming and fun experience with much to do in the hour. Would suggest for just 3, since it is a small space. They have a beautiful lobby with puzzles to solve while you wait and their decor and vibes will have you entranced the whole time. If you need a post spot hangout. They're directly connected to a bar who will get you discounts if you mention them and a small food spot.

The Mardi Gras Study was pretty linear with fun mechanical puzzles. Very family friendly and entertaining for beginners. Would love to try out their other rooms next time!
