Escape the 80s

My dad and I just did Escape the 80’s here and we had a BLAST!! The theming and puzzles were great and although we got stuck on some of the puzzles and needed some help, our wonderful Game Master Chrissy was there to help us through and escape! Definitely will plan another visit here next time i’m in Virginia Beach, hopefully to try out a new room! From one Game Master to the others at Escapism, thank you for the wonderful experience!

One of the better 80s rooms. Super nostalgic. The puzzles were challenging and made you really think without being too hard. Very creative puzzles that you don’t see in a typical room. Definitely worth playing.

Great fun room, really unique and puzzles so fun. Recommended A+++++. And if you born on 80/90th or before will understand.

There were only two of us, and we did not quite escape, but were on the last puzzle. We feel the room can be done by as few as two people. We did not rush ourselves. If we had,we could have gotten out. The puzzles were interesting. Not overly simple and not too hard. The decor and props were not fancy but served the story well.

Solid room. Puzzles were great. Set was okay. Had some fun puzzles i hadnt seen.

9.4/10 I was throughly impressed with this room. Not the fanciest set design but MAN where those puzzles spot on. Just an amazing amount of creativity. I will probably play this again because it was that fun.

This room was a surprise. The gaming elements were very widely varied and challenging, but not too hard. We had 3 adults and a 5 year old and we escaped. The theme was awesome and the gamemaster (owner) clearly loves what he does. Afterwards, he talked to us about the room build and everything he did himself. He has a great setup and we will definitely come back to do the 2nd room.

Room Number 66 Nostalgia usually is a draw. Whether it is movies, video games, eras, people tend to love things that bring them back to their youth. This room was no different. It really has a nice vibe to it and the play was also very nice. First things, first. Escapism is a relatively new company that has two rooms. It is very evident that this is a labor of love and the staff is very warm and helpful. We spent quite a bit of time chatting with them before we even started and it really was a nice way to begin. They also have a leader board, which is something that we have seen more and more venues start doing. This feature can be hit or miss. I know for some of us, that competitive nature hits and we suddenly want to finish the room as fast as possible. I have been in rooms where the chance to get a high score was missed and suddenly I felt like I could breathe and just enjoy the room again. Escapism was a bit different in that they had categories; Duo, Triplet and Group. A neat way to recognize how different gameplay can be with multiple people. The room was nicely done. It definitely felt like a kids bedroom from the 80’s and the time machine was a nice throwback to the movie genre from that era as well. All of the posters and music choices on the wall were done well and it had a very impressive DND table going. I definitely would hate to have to reset that! Puzzles were done well in this room and they definitely matched not only the feel of the room but also helped with the flow. A mix of linear and non-linear with the do multiple things until the end where it bottlenecks a bit and we were stuck looking over someone's shoulder. However it did not take away from the enjoyment of the room. I will say there is a an old school video game puzzle and I could have sat there for the entire hour!
