Master of Illusions

11/10 escape room. Good presentation, immersive and exciting effects. Really cool tech, very good story, good cinematics, excellent sound design, very clever and on theme puzzles with very cool solutions, aha moment after aha moment, very challenging and very satisfying. This was an amazing experience, and our dm chuck was helpful and hilarious. We had an absolute blast.

8.8/10 Masters of Illusion had our jaws dropped as soon as we stepped inside. You are immediately sent into the investigation and feel as if the story came to life. As a 90 minute room we were impressed at the level of attention needed throughout, with a nice “intermission” clip from a friendly helper to refresh our minds and keep us on the right track. As this was a nonlinear room, players can work on different tasks simultaneously to reach the answers within the time limit. The amount of puzzles and various styles kept us intrigued as we explored different rooms. Something that this room made us question is if there is ever too many red herrings or if it all just adds to the immersion. In addition, with such an immersive room and different puzzles, the ending was a little of a let down. Overall, Escape Time Adventures did an amazing job with Master of Illusions and highly recommend giving it a try!

This was a great escape room it was hard to do because you got little to no clues at all and there were multiple rooms which i love about an escape room.

Solid 90 minute room. The story length is good, lots of good puzzles and challenges. Several with some clever extra steps. Really great production value. Great set and everything worked well. Just one small issue with some coloring that they likely fixed after we pointed it out.

This is a good game that has potential to be great. An A level game that trips over itself, throwing it into a mediocre, B category. The rooms were beautiful. A lot of time and effort were put into making these rooms look the part. There were lots of prop use and high tech clues/locks. Unfortunately, the game had many issues with this tech. On four separate occasions the mechanisms didn’t work and the gamemaster had to stop the game and physically make it work. That really pulled us out of the game. The ending also fell flat. They had an opportunity to end it really beautifully but missed the mark. This could be an easy fix though. The biggest issue for us though is that the room is full of red herrings, things designed to waste your time and trick you into thinking it’s part of the game. The game master confirmed this afterwards. I’m not sure why companies do this…anyone who’s played lots of rooms hates red herrings. Again, beautiful escape room, lots of cool clues. Could have been in my top 20 (I’ve played hundreds), but it trips over itself. This game could be improved greatly just by making sure everything works and removing the red herrings.
