The Lost Temple is, perhaps unsurprisingly, a tomb-based adventure with Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider vibes. It spans multiple spaces, with the jungle as the main entry point. Decorated with lush plants, dinosaur remains, and a running water feature, it feels very immersive. Strange symbols adorn the walls, with only a large temple door and puzzles keeping you from the treasure. Equipped with sun hats and torches, we were ready to take on the challenge! An introductory video sets out the mission: to hunt down a piece of treasure rumoured to be hidden within a long-forgotten temple. Stranded in a jungle with only a small locked box and a map, we had to work out how to unlock the tools needed for our journey. The room starts as a linear experience, before branching into non-linear gameplay later on. We enjoyed the mix of working together and breaking off to tackle puzzles in pairs. One element that is often hard to nail is getting the right people in front of the right puzzles. There were instances where we probably should have switched things up, but it’s easy to work that out in hindsight. We evolve as a team with each game we play, so hopefully, this is something we will get better at. We only came across two traditional padlocks in the room, with most elements utilising technology to unlock the way forward. This paved the way for some creativity with the puzzles, which don’t just generate a number for you to input into a lock. Instead, your map-reading ability, observation skills and physical dexterity will all be tested. Some puzzles were very interactive, requiring us to act quickly, while others required more brainwork. Our strength as a team is definitely more in ‘thinky’ puzzles vs physical challenges, so we felt a little on the back foot at times. Rooms are built to test us, though, so we relished in the chaos as we tried to work outside our comfort zone. There was one element of the room that broke immersion a bit for me, and that was the fire door. Fire safety is hugely important, but I’m not used to seeing the fire door in the escape room itself. I appreciate that there is no way of getting around this, due to building limitations, but it did break the illusion of being in the jungle a little. Not enough to have a big impact on my enjoyment of the room as a whole, though. As the time quickly ran down, we had to work hard and fast to finish the final puzzles. The last one, once we got the hang of it, was extremely satisfying. We got our hands on the treasure just in the nick of time and escaped for a delicious Thai lunch. Honestly the hospitality was second to none! The owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The room itself was great, beautifully designed and really felt like a lot of effort had gone into it. A mixture of locks and puzzles and the ending was super personalised - we loved it!

What a brilliant room! Such good fun in a really wonderfully designed set. It felt like you had stepped into the Aztec zone on Crystal Maze! The quality of the set design was excellent and you could tell a huge amount of effort had gone into making it. Lots of physical/tactile puzzles which I loved. The host was brilliant and really got into character, adding to the immersion. I will highly recommend this room and think it's my new favourite of the 74 I have now completed! :) We played on medium mode. A really interesting game mechanic which should make it suitable for all abilities.

Thanks so much, that’s incredible to hear, especially coming from someone who’s completed so many rooms. I’m really glad The Lost Temple stood out for you and that the set design and tactile puzzles gave it that immersive feel. The Crystal Maze comparison always makes me smile and I’m pleased the hosting helped bring it to life as well. It means a lot to hear it’s become a new favourite. Hope we’ll see you again for another adventure soon. Best wishes, Dan & Lisa

Group of 4 c.25 rooms in total. Needed one gentle nudge on one element, chose hard mode. Super room with plenty to do and keep you busy. Think Aztec Zone from Crystal Maze - lovely set design. Spent a while on one puzzle, physical and team work required, but got there in the end! Really fun closing task. Excellent GM hosting who spent some time after discussing puzzles and the varied difficulties on offer. We would definitely recommend visiting and playing all the games at Prodigy.

Thanks so much, I really appreciate such a thoughtful review. I’m glad The Lost Temple kept you busy on hard mode and that the balance felt right with just a gentle nudge when needed. The Crystal Maze comparison always makes me smile and I’m really pleased the set design and physical teamwork elements landed well, especially that final task. It was great chatting through the puzzles afterwards too. Thank you for recommending us and I hope we’ll see you again for another visit in the future.

Hi italocampanelli. Thanks so much for coming to play and for the lovely words. I am really glad you enjoyed the theming and the puzzles. We had a lot of fun creating The Lost Temple and it is always great to hear when people appreciate the style and structure. And yes, just one padlock... Although we might of added something new in with an additional padlock to keep groups busy whilst a particular puzzle (Miner's hat!) is being completed. We wanted the room to feel more about discovery and interaction than opening lots of locks. Really appreciate you taking the time to leave a review and hope we get to welcome you back again sometime. All the best, Dan

Having come here after researching on Escape the Review in Exeter, this room did not disappoint. Ella our host was lovely, walked us through everything we needed to know, then sent us deep into the Aztec jungle in search of some lost temple. The puzzles were taxing. The decor immersive, and we had great fun in hard mode. Thanks to all at Prodigy, we will be back if we can make it while we are down.
