Rating: 4.5/5 - My favorite Crypto room with a fantastical narrative and magical puzzles What I loved about this room: ➕Beautiful, fully custom set with great use of vertical space ➕Fully tech-based with many magical moments and multiple animatronics ➕Strong, engaging narrative with multiple characters. It felt distinct even among the countless other wizard rooms out there. ➕Wonderful lighting, audio, and video design. The spotlighting made it easy to know what you needed to work on, the custom video animations looked so cute and added to the story. ➕Puzzles were fun, tactile, and fit the story, not too easy or hard ➕Climactic, boss battle ending ➕Multiple rooms to discover and explore We played as a team of 3 enthusiasts (paid for 4) and finished with around 12 min left and no hints. No crawling or climbing required. My ranking of all 6 rooms here: 1. The Sorcerer's Secret ❤️ 2. The Lost Shipwreck❤️ 3. Below Zero ❤️ 4. The Extraction ❤️ 5. The Cursed Temple 👍 6. Kilgore Cabin 👍

The Sorcerer’s Secret was a great room! I can definitely see the evolution from Lost Shipwreck. A highly detailed set, fun prop interactions, and various character interactions make this a standout. Puzzles were of medium difficulty and fun to solve. Props were solid. Good use of color and lighting. And a boss battle? 😱 An overall very solid room. I’m glad we played and definitely worth the trip up from Toronto.

Incredible immersive theming and impressive tech made this one a real standout experience in Toronto. I’m not the biggest fan of the puzzle style and repetition at Crypto but it was still a lot of fun, especially the jaw-dropping climax at the end. The production values of the set, media, and animatronics were all top-notch.

The Sorcerers Secret was an absolutely mind blowing room with insane tech and amazing animatronics. The puzzles were solid, and fit the theme, but the physical parts felt a bit repetitive towards the end. The finale was crazy, and makes this a must visit in Toronto.

I can’t imagine a better game to introduce someone to escape rooms than Sorcerer’s Secret. While the game itself was surprisingly harder for our team than other games at the venue, it was still fairly light overall and made great use of some adaptive difficulty measures to ensure constant interaction with the set. The set and props were beautifully designed and executed magical cliches with an earnest elegance. The finale is maybe a bit intense for younger players, but it’s a grand capstone to a visually stunning game. Even before this impressive effect, the story is told through some of the most endearing characters I’ve seen in an escape room, at least on a design level. Every one could find something to love in the is game, and I truly believe that it will inspire so many future enthusiasts.

Gameplay

The puzzles are beautifully integrated into the set with the same mastery-building structure of their other games.

Atmosphere

The castle set is imposing and grand, but also whimsical and filled with very intricate characters.

Customer service

One of the owners was there and was very fun to talk to - and our hosts were generally very attentive and friendly

Practically a fairytale in escape room form.

Fantasy doesn’t necessarily grab me - but it was a fun story and had an awesome payoff

One prop didn’t trigger easily and another trigger prematurely, causing a potential sequence break (it was averted, and the game ran smoothly otherwise).

Such an impressive room with so many wonderful surprises. As magical themed rooms go this is up there with one of the best I’ve played. The narrative was strong and I think it would be a perfect game to play with a family, despite to challenging puzzles, the wow factor would be such a high pay off for younger players.

Gameplay

Seamless and exciting

Atmosphere

Beautiful set decoration with a soundtrack to match

Customer service

As always the staff at Crypto are always super attentive and great at hyping before the experience and this time was no exception.

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

There were definitely tech elements used in this game that I haven’t seen before and some excellent puzzle design.

Story

The objective was clear and you could really follow your progress depending on where you were in the story.

Difficulty

Hard

I would say the challenge is in the amount of puzzles to get through rather than difficulty of each one. But each one had a different style which was really fun!
