He has taken you to an abandoned house and locked you in a basement where you join several other victims already in his captive. As authorities attempt to untangle a complicated web of deadly crime scenes in an investigation that spans several states, your time is running out. Herbert has left for an hour to gather his carving tools and now is your chance to escape.

Well…I’m not recommending you go run and play this room by any means. I’m between giving it a thumbs down and a thumbs up. It was functional and fine, but the room itself was maybe not everyone’s cup of tea. Because the room actually worked and was beatable, I’m erring on the side of thumbs up. There wasn’t anything that was particularly stand out about the experience aside from the initial, creative lead in and a few very good, unique puzzles. My main qualms is probably with the weird, tonally all-over-the-place theming. It’s a kidnapping/murder room, with everything you’d expect (or have come to expect) from those escape room themes. But it tries to lighten the mood and have weird, ren-faire tier acting from an introduction video and further voice messages. Things in the room go from goofy spooky to just flat out disturbing and unnecessarily upsetting. I’m not sensitive myself, but I recognize that if you or someone you know would find things like innocent men/women’s murders upsetting (also both thoroughly documented, referenced and used as setups for puzzles), you should probably avoid this room. I’m not trying to outright knock the attempts here at engagement, but I think consistency is key to an overall satisfying experience. Pick a tone and stick with it. With that said, if you’ve got the stomach for it, it’s a pretty solid room. Most puzzles are straightforward, it tries to immerse you as much as possible, and aside from one or two puzzles not really obvious without assistance from the GM, it’s a neat little experience.

We enjoyed this room. Fun puzzles, variety of logic scenarios, followed storyline well. We did Wild West also and though both were good, we liked this room better. GM seemed a little out of sorts which detracted from our enjoyment and overall impression somewhat - perhaps not having a great day.

Lead in into the room set the mood. Some unique locks. Part of the ending didn’t make sense and led us astray because it wasn’t working. Have to use a lot of logical thinking and pay attention to everything and everything ties together, so that was nice.

Generic “you were kidnapped” motif. Has a cool feel but nothing ground breaking.
