I was torn on the review of this room. There were parts I liked and parts I did not. The set started fairly immersive (it really looked like a hotel lobby), but some construction choices in the second half broke my immersion. The puzzles were a mix - some made sense in the context of the room (fix the elevator), while others seemed rather unrealistic (put magnet near random object). The deal breaker for me were the red herrings. One is simply a minor jump scare (no other purpose), one is a piece of translatable text that has no meaning (despite other translatable text being important), and one is a key that goes to nothing. The coolest part is the elevator, but it is pretty cramped in there with 4 people.

Linear, yet needed 4 people minimum (only needed 4 people for one of the puzzles) and was very claustrophobic throughout with just 5 people. Puzzles were kind of a stretch, and not like typical logic based puzzles in escape rooms. Not enough for everyone to do for sure. I think total there were only 7 puzzles, one of which was auditory, with a voice changer, and no subtitles. While figuring out (correctly) where to place the last object, we were told (mocked, really) that if we had listened to the recording, we would have been told how to get back to where we needed to place it. After the game we were told that the owner intentionally designed the game to be difficult, not by making interesting and complex puzzles, but by making a stressful, cramped, overstimulating and uncomfortable environment. I will say the rooms *looked nice, but it almost made the puzzles that much more disappointing. There was even a key, that was just a red herring! Ridiculous.

THE most underrated room in the Portland area. I have no idea how it flies under the radar. The atmosphere of the hotel is unmatched. It is so beautifully designed and immersive. It never feels like a room, but a true experience in a fantastic environment. The puzzles and effects are fantastic. But the real can't-miss aspect is an environment that I have NEVER seen in a room, that I never even thought was possible to execute. But the crew at Mental Trap aims high, and they knocked it out of the park here.

This was my favorite escape room for a long time. My husband even took his sister's back her to do it again.

We had a lot of fun completing this room as a group of 3. It creatively uses the space available and has fun puzzles along the way. It is clearly a homegrown room, but by someone with experience putting together tech and set pieces - so you end up surprised by the mechanics and tech when they happen. I recommend doing this room with a small group after a nice round of glow in the dark mini golf (which is at the same location).

Great for 2 players! Rooms where nicely decorated and the puzzles where well thought out.

Only difficult puzzle was in the most cramped space imaginable, definitely donβt bring more than 3 people.

Good set design on the 1st half but unnecessary claustrophobic and legitimately panic inducing at one point. Expressed my concerns with the owner via email and did not receive a reply. That being said, the rest of group (5 others) had a fine time. I however, did not.
