I LOVED this room! All of the rooms at the Lodge of Lazarus Crowe were very high quality! The set was designed very well and felt very immersive! The puzzles were fun to solve and a good difficulty level in my opinion! Not too hard, perfect for the experience! Not scary! Older kids would enjoy it! Great for small groups! I love how they don’t have a strict timer! The GM said if we didn’t have a group after us, then they’d have let us take as long as we needed! If there is a reservation after, then they might nudge us a bit more! There is no timer in any of the rooms we’ve done (we’ve experienced 3) and so you can really take your time to think and solve each one without feeling like you have to rush to finish or resort to asking for hints just to stay within the time! The Lodge also has a bar and cafe that opens at I believe 4PM so for any enthusiasts, you might want to check that out too if given the time! There are mystery boxes for sitting down and solving as well! Overall, I highly highly recommend The Arcane Library and any other rooms at the Lodge! If I could spend all day there, I totally would’ve! 🤣

Super fun! Puzzles were fun to solve!

Atmosphere

Very magical and very well designed set! Great use of lights and sound to direct players where they need to go, including when something new opens that might have been easy to miss! Game very high tech! I don’t remember a single traditional lock, everything was electronic!

Customer service

LOVED our GMs! Everyone was very enthusiastic and friendly and it felt like being among like minded individuals ❤️

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

Puzzles were very novel and fun to solve!

Story

The storyline of helping the…person who is trapped felt a little bit lackluster. No spoilers but you sort of forget about it a little haha

Difficulty

Medium

Some puzzles near the end was more time consuming, but I don’t think any of the puzzles are too hard to figure out!

Game tech

High tech

Very high tech! Lots of lights and animation and sounds relying on touch and proper placement to solve! I don’t remember a single traditional lock.

Ideal number of players

4

This is a smaller room so I feel like any more than 4 might be too crowded!

Scary

The puzzles aren’t hard, but any younger than 12 and I don’t think they’d enjoy/solve them.

Like the Unstable Reactor, the Arcane Library consists of only one room, but they pack a lot into the small space. This room is great for beginners, since the gameplay is well-clued and linear. But this review is less about the room and more about the entire Lazarus Lodge facility itself. I haven’t really encountered an escape room company quite like this: in addition to housing several escape rooms, it’s also a bar, a cafe, and a community center, hosting game nights and pop-up markets. They also offer “fieldwork” experiences, which are like puzzle games that focus on exploring the mysterious halls and interstitial spaces of the Lodge. I think the building was an old funeral home, so it’s steeped in history. These mysterious/creepy vibes permeate the escape rooms, and I dont think they would hit the same if they were housed in a different building. Very cool place, and worth a special trip to visit!

Most reviews are saying linear but I would give this room more recognition just for storytelling and having you work on puzzles that actually make sense what you are supposed to accomplish. I hate the feeling of just not knowing what to work on and this room helped so much for that which is why I loved it. GREAT STORY AND FUN VIBES. Solving puzzles in the hallways of the building to even enter the room was a super fun take on escape rooms in general.

Gameplay

Amazing idea to solve puzzles in the hallways to first get in the room! Then perfect layout of what you are supposed to work on for puzzle solving and difficult puzzles.

Atmosphere

Very themed well in the context of the whole building!

Customer service

Very helpful and let us stay later to finish our last initiation puzzle too. So much help when we asked.

Very linear, puzzles were fantastic except one that I wasn't a fan of personally. The more people you have, the less running around, but the less engaged you may feel. Very doable with 2 people, but probably both need some escape room experience. I'd say 4 would be the optimal amount of people.

Like the other reviews mention, this room is linear so I don’t recommend more than 3-4 people. However it is a great room if you have a group of mixed experience players. New players won’t have a problem figuring out what they should focus on. Veteran players will enjoy the novel and technical aspects of the puzzles in the room

3 escape rooms

Linear room, so I can’t recommend more that 3-4. Not that many puzzles and the puzzles are more ambiguous than challenging. Overall, a fine experience.

Solid, high tech room. Linear and somewhat easier puzzles, but still engaging and high production value for a small group. It's on the shorter side and felt like it could use a second act. But the broader venue is amazing and fun and you kind of can't go wrong there!
