Al Capone’s Speakeasy

We did this with 8 adults and 4 kids from 6-10. Our game master was super great and really helped real in the chaos so had fun and escaped with just enough time to spare.

This is a fun room with a live actor.

We were super excited about this room but realized once we started that it's a little intimidating having an actor in there with you the entire time. We felt a little like we were holding back and second guessing ourselves for fear of looking dumb..? The actor was great, it was just more uncomfortable than we expected. Also the flow of the room looked easy but was not. Apparently we only made it through about 70% of the puzzles which is rare for us.

Did this game twice. Originally in March of 2020 and then again inadvertently (friends chose it) in Oct of 2023. Didn't get out the first time because the other people there were all first-timers. The second time around didn't give us any advantage for the puzzles because my memory sucks & the puzzles didn't always make sense, but at least this time, our friends are all experienced escape roomers, so we made it. I'll start by saying isn't a terrible game, it's got ups and downs. First, the positives: nice set design, some cool individual puzzles. But where the game suffers is: the puzzles aren't the most intuitive. The live actor bartender was not very helpful or interactive. And worst of all, the game felt disjointed. Flow can make or break a game. This breaks it. Haven't played anything else from this company so I'm curious what else they offer.

Was excited for the game due to the actor aspect but she fell flat. Idk if she was having a bad day or what, but she did not want to be there. She wasn’t helpful or funny, she mostly made things harder than they should have been and wasted a lot of our time doing things that had no impact on the game. Several props did not work. The room looked ok. We made it out but by the end, I didn’t care if we escaped in time or not. I just wanted to leave.
