Explore one of the most infamous chapters in American history Delve into the dark and mysterious events that gripped the Massachusetts town in the late 17th century. The Salem witch trials were a series of hearings and prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts between February 1692 and May 1693. The trials resulted in the executions of twenty people, fourteen of them women, and all but one by hanging. The episode is one of Colonial America’s most notorious cases of apparent mass hysteria. It has been used in political rhetoric and popular literature as a vivid cautionary tale about the dangers of isolationism, religious extremism, false accusations, and lapses in due process. Although the last trial was held in May 1693, public response to the events continued. In the decades following the trials, survivors and family members (and their supporters) sought to establish the innocence of the individuals who were convicted. In November 2001, years after the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the trials, the Massachusetts legislature passed an act exonerating all who had been convicted and naming each of the innocent… but were any of these accusations warranted? Back In Time has been hired by a descendant of one of the convicted women to travel back to 1692 and conduct an investigation into the accusations of witchcraft. You and your team must gather evidence to either support or refute these accusations. Do you have what it takes to determine the guilt or innocence of this woman and put this question to rest? Sign up for this mission and find out!

The games at Back in Time always have solid theming and sturdy puzzle pieces that don’t feel overused or run down. I’m not sure if that’s due to lack of players or the luck of not having rough customers but I think they’re such a consistent company and more people should play these games. Witch Hunt was a breeze for my friend and I but we’re always excited to see new twists on puzzles we’ve seen before, if not puzzles we haven’t seen at all. Most puzzles are pretty straightforward matching words to number codes or pictures to objects in the room but B.I.T. keeps the ideas fresh through the use of sounds, props, and intricate yet unencumbered set design.

This was a great room for theming and I thought the puzzles were decent. I just wish it had more to it. We got out with more than half the time left and apparently set the record for the room without even trying to rush through it. It was definitely an Easy room just because of the number of puzzles, however if they doubled the number of puzzles I am sure I would have loved it! What they did have there was great and fit the theming very well. They told us this is a “beginner room,” but I always appreciate when a room can be scaled according to the speed of the group going through it, so it can be made appropriately challenging for both beginner groups or experienced groups. Overall, I’d recommend this room for beginners, but not for experienced players. There’s just not enough puzzles to it.

The room was surprisingly fun! The puzzles were simple and linear, so I recommend smaller groups. This room would also be great for kids. The room wasn’t as scary/spooky as I would like, but the puzzles were entertaining. The GM Harrison was fantastic as well, highly recommend.
The atmosphere fits the Salem witch theme.
Harrison was a fantastic GM. They were dressed for the part as well. We asked for no hints and they obliged.
Yes
We haven’t done many witch themed escapes, so it felt quite unique.

The puzzles were quite simple and linear, good for inexperienced groups, and kids.

We did it as an experienced group of two, however maybe if you were inexperienced, a group of three could be good.
Not scary
Borderlines between not scary and spooky, there wasn’t really a moment where I was afraid, but the theme is witches, so a bit spooky.

There is some level of physicality needed for one puzzle, but I would say it is largely accessible.
There might be difficulty for mobility impairment on one puzzle, but it wasn’t that physical. For visual impaired, the rooms are quite dark.

It was our first time at back in time escape rooms, and we were pleasantly surprised. We really enjoyed our game. Master Deborah, who thoroughly added to our experience. The escape room was very immersive, and I liked the historical but fun nature. History mixed with fun, if you wanna learn or get your kids to learn, head on down:)
