From a young age, Dr. Lehner has had an obsession with one of the most famous treasures in history: Montezuma's cursed gold. Throughout history, thousands of explorers have tried unsuccessfully to find this treasure. And the doctor is no exception: During his youth (before his WV29 discovery) he was working in Mexico, looking for signs of the treasure's location; but achieved nothing. Just more mysteries. However, now, after years of frustration, one of his friends has informed him that parts of Moctezuma's treasure have come up for sale on the Black Market in Antiquities: That only means one thing: The gold has been found. But this time it won't be so easy. That is why the doctor is looking for volunteers to accompany him on a new adventure. Are you one of them?

Katrina was an amazing game that was tarnished by (I think) the most technical issues I've ever seen in a game. Despite that, it still was one of my favorite games of our Spain trip at #3 of 37. Fantastic set, good puzzles and interactions, several wow moments, great actor performance. After the game, my group compared notes and came up with about 20 technical issues we encountered, include several maglocks failing, buttons not working, puzzle triggers being overly fiddly and firing very late, and several moments that should have been exciting being reduced to confusion because things weren't triggering. None of this was a showstopper, but it did detract from the experience. From talking to other groups who played around the same time, it was only our group who had problems, so hopefully you'll be luckier.

So much was broken on our playthrough, I think it had the most issues by far of any game I've played

Very difficult street parking and no garages. In retrospect we should have parked further out and rideshared over.

Some fire safety concerns during parts of the game with no clear egress

Consensus #2 of our 17-room Europe trip and definitely a top TERPECA contender. The best actor performances we've seen, and the final set genuinely made us go wow. Hints were well-judged - only given when we truly needed them. Heads-up: come prepared to drink real alcohol lol.

For set design, detail, story and quality of puzzles, this is right up there with the best in Barcelona. The acting was also superb which added to the enjoyment! One minor negative was a sense that we were being hurried along to make up time as our booking was pushed back by 10 mins through no fault of our own. Would still highly recommend this to anyone though! Outstanding room

Outstanding room with an incredible set design, story and special effects. Including a wide range of puzzles which were fun and added to the immersion. Absolutely loved the facade, entry and opening moments. This room gave moment after moment, with twists and unexpected turns! Iโ€™m sure this will be nominated for TERPECA and do well later in the year! A must do room in the Barcelona area (with some tough competition around)!

Our GM was incredible very friendly (a great voice). Though at times felt a bit rushed as the room was running behind.

Amazing room with an elaborated storyline that makes you feel like you are starring in a movie. Lots of impressive setting and scene changes and excellent live acting scenes, especially right in the beginning. Small minus points for 2-3 mechanics that didnโ€™t work properly as well as some incomplete puzzles (the game master told us afterwards that some things were broken by earlier customers and unfortunately not repaired/replaced yet). But the overall experience was nevertheless fantastic! An absolute must-play in Barcelona in my opinion.

I've done 100 rooms. This is maybe the best in Spain.

Not novel, for experienced people, but not too hard. Misterios de Kemet is more difficult.

Probably the best design and effects in Spain.

Katrina is a must-play, immersive and epic cinematic escape game experience. The game master was talented and gave a spectacular performance. We recommend leaving some buffer room for this game in case it runs over the estimated 120 min. The game is quite epic in scale with multiple acts. There were numerous wow moments that were quite awe-inspiring, and thoughtful puzzles that integrated beautifully into the set as well as into the story. There were some moments that pulled you in, and effects that really were mesmerizing (we wish those moments could have lasted a little longer). There was a point in the game we thought it would have been perfect to end, and we wondered if there's ever such a thing as too much of a good thing...or less is more...but regardless, this is a must-play. There were some unexpected twists and turns, and definitely some delightful moments too. Despite our time crunch for another game and not being able to give the full devoted attention that Katrina deserved, we can see why this is a new favourite for many. This room had such a lovely start! Without spoilers, I almost want to replay when I know a different GM is working to see how it could be done differently. I immediately got into the story, and the narrative comes back throughout as well (and with acting). Nicely done! For the most part, the decorations and environment were beautiful! One specific moment I verbally was in awe. But there were a few places where you could see wires and doors that took me out of the experience only briefly, so that was a shame. And some things were broken when we were there, but I hope it was just unlucky from the group before us. The puzzles were a lot of fun, and most were integrated very well into the story. There was one frustrating communication puzzle during loud audio, but perhaps this would be less frustrating with more than 2 players. Despite a few minor flaws, this is definitely a must play if you are in the area. A top experience that I really enjoyed.
