Do try to stay calm... fear will only spoil the meat. A trail less travelled to a beautiful vista, all thanks to the impromptu conversation with that friendly bearded fellow at the trailhead. The descent was slow and a bit treacherous. Then it happened: a trap line, a flurry of action, and darkness. You wake up on the floor of an old cabin to the sound of heavy footsteps. A tap... tap... tap... on the window draws your attention to a burly figure standing outside. "Do try to stay calm" he says with a grin, "fear will only spoil the meat."

All the rooms at escape city were so creative and fun to solve so it’s hard to pick a favorite but this one was absolutely up there!! We did this one with 2 experienced players and it was a really satisfying difficulty level and we barely made it out with no hints used. It was really great to see such thorough continuity between the room theme and puzzle themes. Absolutely do this room!!

This was our final room at Escape City, which has become my favourite escape room company across Calgary. My only complaint is that we will now have to wait for their next room! The Woodsman was by far the most satisfying solve we've had... one thing I believe Escape City does super well is making the puzzles involve just the right amount of creativity and difficulty. This being their most difficult room made it that much more satisfying to solve on time without using any hints, which helped us stay immersed in the amazing set and atmosphere. The technology is incorporated into the room super well, and the puzzles also all relate to the theme of being trapped in a creepy guy's cabin in the woods. The synergy between all these elements shows how much effort goes into all aspects of the room's creation within this company.

One puzzle wasn't working, but they had a nice substitute, which took a little less time and maybe wasn't as neat as the original, but still fit into the game nicely.

Worth doing for the puzzles. Several combination locks but a good variety of non-numeric puzzles as well. The decor was good but not the best "cabin" theme I've seen. The video dialog with our would-be killer was initially cool but got very tedious very quickly ... yes yes you are going to kill us unless we solve all your puzzles -- we get it!

🫎📻🦉 I had a freaking BLAST in The Woodsman. Campy-spooky, immersive, dare I say cozy! (Me describing any escape room with a woodsy aesthetic, lol). A fun story that keeps you on track plus a great variety of medium to hard puzzles, many of which I hadn’t seen done before- always amazed when I’m able to say that. Bring your smart friends! This is the second room I did at Escape City during my trip and both were fantastic. Definitely a top-tier escape company. I’ll be back! Thank you so much to the amazing staff at ECC for letting me be a lunatic and try this room by myself while I was here in Calgary on a solo trip. I booked for end of night and they were very generous in giving me extra time so I could finish (even after the zillion hints I used). Shoutout to Winnie!! 🍹 bonus: licensed facility that lets you bring drinks into the room!

Wow, wow, wow, what a great game. One of the best in Calgary if not THE best. The puzzles are amazing, they are original, well thought and fun to do. The set design is beautifully made for just a cabin. The intro is well done and the story makes sense with the puzzles. You really get a high tier escape game for the price. I highly recommend this game and this company. This game should have a lot more ❤️ ratings imo.
