24 escape rooms
There is something special about an escape room that transports you so completely that you forget you're in a game. "The Collection" at Enchambered achieves exactly that. While my team ultimately met our match and failed to escape, the journey was so unique and well-crafted. The atmosphere is, without a doubt, the star of the show. As advertised, you truly feel as though you've been locked inside a massive, sprawling collection of forgotten antiques/relics. It's a dusty, dimly lit, and wonderfully cluttered storage space for the weird and wonderful. The set design is incredibly detailed, with every corner holding a curious object that feels like it has a story to tell. The lighting and sound design perfectly complement the environment, creating a constant sense of mystery and a tinge of unease that keeps you on your toes. For a room with so many puzzles, the linear flow was a godsend. Often, in highly complex rooms, the team can get fractured and overwhelmed by too many open threads. Here, the clear, logical progression kept us focused and working as a cohesive unit. We always knew our next objective, which allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the challenge at hand rather than just running around trying to figure out what to touch next. And what a challenge it was! The puzzles in "The Collection" are complex and wonderfully hard. They require genuine observation, critical thinking, and a good amount of teamwork. This is not a room for passive participants; everyone needs to be engaged and communicating. Unfortunately, for my team, the difficulty level proved to be our downfall. We made steady progress and solved some truly clever challenges, but the clock ultimately ran out before we could crack the final sequence. It is a tough room, but in a way that makes you respect the design rather than feel cheated by it. Perhaps the coolest aspect? No physical locks! The entire room is driven by high-tech automation and sensors. This choice completely eliminates the busywork of fumbling with combinations and allows the magic of the room to take center stage. Objects move, lights flash, and mechanisms trigger in response to your actions, making you feel like you're actually interacting with a mysterious, semi-sentient collection. The tech is seamless and adds a layer of polish that truly elevates the experience.
