El Secreto de los Krugger

Krugger's Secret, ranked #4 in the entire world, is one of the BEST escape rooms I've ever been to! Calling it an 'escape room' is somewhat insulting because Krugger's Secret is an ENTIRE HOTEL. Aptly named the Insomnia Hotel, the experience starts at the door where the staff and GMs are all already in character once the doors open! This is one experience you might WISH there was a pause button for the immersion because the Krugger's Secret is poop your pants TERRIFYING. Granted, this review is coming from a person who's very much afraid of haunted houses so... take with a grain of salt! (But seriously I'm not kidding.💀) Only those with nerves of steel should attempt the experience! Age limit is 16 and minors must be accompanied by an adult. I will try and make this as spoiler free as possible with the exception of some Good-To-Know-Beforehand knowledge. - It's a hotel with each sleeping room being it's own theme and unique escape room! You check in starting at 6PM and the doors of the front desk lobby don't open until 6, so don't come too early or you're going to have to wait outside until 6! - The location is up a mountain and they have a parking lot right before the hotel. It'll be an area with small white pebbles and lots with the insomnia hotel signage (easy to miss) that indicates it's parking for the hotel. If you arrive at the hotel, turn back around (the road is narrow as heck), and you'll find parking a bit downhill. - Age limit is 16. 18+ recommended. 2 players recommended though 3 is the max. You will be sleeping in the escape room and depending on the sleeping room, you can book for 3 people. For larger groups, anyone over 2-3 people will have to book a separate room, but the ENTIRE HOTEL can be a maximum of 14 people! - Game can be in English, but mostly will probably be in Spanish depending on the players. They have GMs (in character) who will translate for you, but if it's possible to organize an English speaking meetup for it, that would be IDEAL! - You can read up on each individual sleeping room to book on their website. If you'd like the most peaceful sleep, go with Aradia. If you're fearless, go with Madre. - Taxi services in Berga don't start until 8AM! If you're trying to call a taxi to get to a bus or something, you will be poop out of luck. Ubers don't exist there for some reason. Walking is viable but...it's a pretty steep hill with luggage 💀. Let Mr. Krugger (the GM) know about your morning plans the night prior so they can help you! Mr. Krugger was an ABSOLUTE GEM and drove us himself last minute in the morning to the bus station! Thank you so so much! <3 - Note: All staff will go home after midnight, so there will be no one to help unless you call them. After solving the individual rooms, they will treat you to an unforgettable dinner! The food comes out in courses and they're themed to each character. You can let them know of any food restrictions you have prior to coming! They will also give you instructions about the experience after! Because from after dinner to midnight, that's when the family members come out to play 😏. By play I mean chase you around the hotel as you try and solve the puzzles in each room (not the sleeping rooms). The hotel has many rooms that you can freely explore (the entire hotel) and each room indicates the number of puzzles there are in each room. You must try and survive while trying to solve as many as you can. Unfortunately I can't say much for the difficulty of these puzzles because I'm chicken shit and hid in my room the entire time then got chased out at midnight. (The sleeping rooms are NOT a safe zone 🤣 Guess how I found out?). But afterwards when they took us around to show us the puzzles (as out of character GMs), I was pretty confident I would not have been able to solve a single one 🤣. The rooms are TERRIFYING. The set design? Holy shit. Get me out. Some of the puzzle designs? Pure diabolical. I learned something new about myself that day. And that is: courage does not increase with age 🤣 Overall, Krugger's Secret is #4 in the entire world for a reason. They're one of the best and you will leave with an unforgettable experience even if you're like me and hid away for the majority of the after-dinner part of it. 😅

What a fantastic, unique experience! Arrived at 6pm, puzzled in our unique themed hotel room until dinner at 8pm. Dinner was a gourmet meal (yummy!) with entertaining interactions with the actors, followed by puzzling horror experience throughout the Insomnia hotel until midnight. The actors were in character throughout the duration of the experience. The puzzles were high quality and were more difficult when the horror was intense! In my top 10 all-time! Highly recommend!

Puzzles 🧩: 9.5/10 Set/Wow Factor ✨: 10/10 Story/Immersion 🔮: 10/10 Fun factor 🤘: 9.5/10 One of the best immersive escape room experiences that can be had, beginning from the very moment you step in through the doors of Insomnia Hotel. This ER is not like any other, and includes an immersive dinner experience, and hotel night stay. This was our first ER in Spain this trip, and our very first 'real' horror room. The team is incredible, the dinner was... horrifyingly delicious, among other adjectives we could use!! the puzzles were excellent, and still have us wondering what else we could have tried to solve and wanting more. The experience was terrifying, and despite a little mishap (getting injured - our own fault running into something), the team handled everything so professionally, and made sure we had a... wonderful(ly scary)... rest of stay. Tips: - There is enough parking down the hill before you get to the hotel, with signage. - It can be hot and dim in the rooms. But there are areas with AC right outside in the hallway that connects to the rooms (we were in Madre) - The dinner is quite filling, well paced but some foods are heavy. They ask you about dietary restrictions ahead of time and it is part of the experience. - You share parts of the experience with other overnight guests in the other rooms. We played with a Spanish group - the staff translated everything into English either simultaneously (that was a bit hard for us to parse out), or more clearly, right after the Spanish act. There is no language barrier to the actual game/puzzles, but we wish we could have debriefed at the end with our fellow players to help process everything, so if you have the opportunity, we highly recommend booking for any days where the whole experience could be in English (for non-Spanish speakers obviously), but if you cannot, we still fully enjoyed the experience with the Spanish group! Highly recommend, as a must-play if you can withstand some horror! What an amazing experience. At the end of our trip, we played Space Base: Extermination in Vitoria which shared some similar game mechanics.
