We really enjoyed our time here. It was truly unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. The combination of the hotel stay, immersive storytelling, escape-room elements, and horror experience made for a very memorable weekend.

I do wish we had a bit more information while planning our visit, so I’ll share a few light spoilers below—nothing that ruins the gameplay, just a few things I wish I had known beforehand. For context, my group rented out all of the rooms and played privately. While this definitely enhanced the experience for us, it is absolutely not necessary, and you can still have a great time booking as a smaller group.

1. Your room choice has little impact on the main gameplay experience.

Each bedroom has its own puzzles to unlock amenities and adds to the overall atmosphere, but the room you stay in does not affect the larger escape-room experience that takes place after dinner. There are no scare actors in the bedrooms, and room difficulty does not correlate with how scary the room is. We initially assumed the easier rooms might be scarier and the harder rooms more puzzle-focused, similar to a traditional escape room, but that’s not the case. The room difficulty simply relates to the puzzles within that room, while the room theme is largely separate from the later gameplay.

2. The main experience begins as soon as you receive your letter after dinner.

After dinner, you’ll be sent back to your room and instructed to hide. Our group spent about 15 minutes hiding before realizing a letter had been slipped under our door. That letter signals the start of the game. Once you receive it, you’re free to begin solving puzzles and exploring. In hindsight, we lost some valuable gameplay time because we thought we were still supposed to be hiding.

3. Every group can solve every puzzle.

Because we rented the entire hotel, we initially approached the experience like a traditional escape room where, once a puzzle is solved, it’s completed for everyone. That’s not how this experience works. The game is designed so that each group of two or three can independently solve the puzzles, regardless of whether another group has already completed them. If someone tells you they’ve solved a puzzle, don’t skip it—you can still solve it yourself, and you’ll receive points for doing so. Looking back, we missed out on some puzzles because we didn’t realize this.

Overall, these were very minor issues in what was otherwise an incredible experience. The staff was fantastic, the atmosphere was immersive, and the entire event was exceptionally well executed. We had an amazing time and would absolutely return. In fact, I’d love to go back and play again since we only experienced a fraction of the puzzles—we were having too much fun being terrified.

What a fantastic, unique experience! 
Arrived at 6pm, puzzled in our unique themed hotel room until dinner at 8pm. Dinner was a gourmet meal (yummy!) with entertaining interactions with the actors, followed by puzzling horror experience throughout the Insomnia hotel until midnight. 

The actors were in character throughout the duration of the experience. The puzzles were high quality and were more difficult when the horror was intense! 

In my top 10 all-time! Highly recommend!
