There are whispers among the bravest of pirates, murmurs that echo only in the darkest corners of the seas. It is a tale so cursed, so sinister, that even those who dare speak of it do so in hushed voices. The story tells of a crew lost to the depths, of betrayal, vengeance, and a treasure so great it has driven men to madness. Who am I, you ask? My name is Kael Swiftfingers, and I intend to uncover this legend once and for all. For within the heart of this tale lies the ultimate prize—the Compass of the Deep. A compass unlike any other, forged not to guide its bearer across known waters, but to lead them to the greatest treasures hidden beneath the waves. The key to fortune and power beyond imagining. The story begins with a pirate captain whose name has been erased from history, a man so consumed by the call of the deep that even the infamous Davy Jones refused to speak it. This captain sought the forbidden, and his hunger led him to strike a deal with none other than Temetra, the voodoo priestess of the Emerald Isles. He freed her from her cursed prison, and in return, she crafted for him a compass imbued with otherworldly magic. But the captain was as treacherous as the seas he sailed. After claiming the compass, he betrayed Temetra, leaving her curse unfinished. Enraged, the priestess bound the compass with a terrible vengeance. It is said the compass turned on its master, pulling him and his entire crew to the ocean’s depths, where they remain trapped in an endless cycle of mutiny, cannon fire, and despair. Some say that on the stormiest of nights, you can hear the roar of their cannons and the screams of the cursed crew, desperate to reclaim the compass and end their torment. But no pirate has ever dared follow those sounds to their source—no one, until now. And why am I the one to take on this deadly endeavor? Because Temetra’s blood runs through my veins, and her magic courses through me. I am the only one who can wield the compass, to unlock its secrets and lead us to treasures that will rewrite the legends of the seas. But I cannot do it alone. We must first venture to Rogue’s Cove, where the path begins. The cove, a place where pirates bury their sins and treasure alike, holds the key to finding the sunken ship and its cursed crew. There, we will gather the fragments of the legend, piecing together the clues needed to end the curse and seize the compass. But beware—the cove is no sanctuary. It is a battleground of betrayal, where shadows whisper of danger and the ghosts of the past guard their secrets fiercely. The journey will test your courage and your loyalty. The cursed crew will not yield easily, and to end their suffering, we must help them finish what they started—the ultimate mutiny. Together, we will face the cannons, the curses, and the wrath of the seas to claim the compass and release them from their torment. Are you ready to sail into the unknown, to brave the darkness of the depths and rewrite the legends? The road begins with the tales of Old Benny Bones himself. He may be mad, but his ramblings hold the first clue. So, who’s with me? Time is short, and fortune favors the bold. The compass calls to us—will you answer?

The atmosphere of this one was super cool!! It was a tad confusing going from room to room, but overall I really enjoyed the puzzles here. I do appreciate this escape room being so immersive that you lose track of time in there :).

Excellent room, with great theming throughout, interesting and unique puzzles, and good support from the GM. The ending was much more entertaining than the typical room.

Gameplay

Lots of puzzles for 2 people, but everything flowed well and good nudges from the GM at times.

Wow! The production was insane! Not expecting it at all. I highly recommend it to everyone! We’ve done about 40 escape rooms and this one is on the top of our all time favorite.

I have mixed feelings about this place. Overall, the owners are so very kind and passionate about what they do, so I appreciate them for that alone. However, be careful in how you approach criticizing the company. Before they even opened, I tried to express concerns about their pricing over Google, but Google reviews were locked even though they had already had a couple 5 star reviews. This didn’t feel good to me, so I took my concerns to this app. I was immediately met by harsh comments from a discord group of fans. One of these members even went as far to look me up online and include information about me. It was a lot. However, the owners put an immediate stop to it. They were so gracious in reaching out to me, hearing my concerns, and addressing the whole situation. I don’t love that they have a fan base so willing to pounce on anyone who disagrees, but in my experience, they don’t reflect the owners of this who clearly care about who they are and what they do. As far as the room goes, it’s very well themed and has some cool cinematic moments. Overall we had a decent time. We did leave feeling like we were rushed through the experience, and there were a couple puzzles I think could use a little more fine tuning.

Gameplay

Overall we enjoyed it. Felt a little rushed, but we may have needed more people. There was a couple puzzles we completed but weren’t even sure how. This made the experience feel a little unsatisfying.

Atmosphere

It’s well made. It’s clear there is a lot of passion here. At times the vision almost felt stronger than the execution.

Customer service

Wonderful staff. Very attentive and understanding.

There was a couple technical things that made a couple puzzles feel off, and for a good chunk of one of the projects was a computer screen. Diminished the immersion a little bit.

Escape Hour never fails to disappoint! I’ve played in Austin and Utah (unfortunately couldn’t make the Tacoma rooms work with our schedule up there!), and both were good fun rooms. Rogue's Cove had a little of everything. Great set, fun cinematics and exploration and varied, layered puzzle modalities. Fans of Pirates of the Caribbean will feel right at home! Signposting could be improved, but overall a very good experience, definitely a top room in Utah. I’m excited to see what the folks at Escape Hour have in store. Amelia was a fantastic host!

The set was very well designed - it reminded us a lot of Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland and was super immersive. There was plenty for us to do as a group of 3 with some cool and unique puzzles. Our game master Amelia was super friendly! Definitely recommend if you’re in the SLC area!

This was my 260tj escape room. It is easily the best room in Utah County. But maybe not for long because they’re going to have three more at this location. Highly recommend.

This was such a cool and fun room! The puzzles were engaging and I enjoyed that the puzzles were not linear so me and my husband could work on things separately. Definitely the most immersive experience we have gone to! My only complaints are that there was no countdown timer so we had no idea how much time was left and we were sometimes fed clues if we looked around too long, but I think we would have figured it out if we had been given more time to brainstorm. There was no button or anything to say when we wanted a clue.
