The Clock Tower

I did The Clock Tower with my friend as a group of 2. I thought that the puzzles were fun and challenging. The object to fix the clock tower also leads to exciting gameplay. I do have two critiques of the room though. There are not many clues that tell you what to use where. The other critique I have is that the room is pretty linear. Although they recommend a lot of people, a lot would be standing around as one puzzle unlocks the next. Jakob was our room guide, and he was VERY knowledgeable about the room and overall fun! He was one of my favorite guides at Escape the Room NYC.

This room has seen better days. Very worn and looked like it had not been taken care of at all. We had puzzles that didn’t work and nothing led you to the next puzzle. This entire location needs an overhaul. Game master was friendly but then rushed us out of the room when we completed it and walked away. I would not recommend to anybody be unless things get an upgrade.

It was hard in the sense that most of the puzzles felt very arbitrary. It has a great concept but could use a little TLC and editing.

If you’ve wish listed this room because of their many accolades beware. Take to heart the other reviews, you may think they may be exaggerating or that you’ll “have a different experience”, well that’s what I thought too. Until I played this room. It is indeed a frustrating room. The first part of the game lacks any type of flow and really no sense of clear direction. Anything can mean anything to anything sort of feel. The game gets a little better as you go on, but there are still some logical leaps and the room is also not a one and done room that makes it frustrating and annoying. The staff were great and after the game was over they came in to explain it- but overall conflicted with how I feel. The game did get better, but the first part ruined much of the game for me. I give it barely a thumbs up. Only if you’re a desperate enthusiast would I recommend it and with a bit of a warning.

I’m surprised this room has won so many awards. The puzzles and ideas are pretty good but the room feels old and worn out. With a renovation this could be quite a good room, but when I went it felt like things weren’t well taken care of and staff didn’t care that much. There definitely are some cool ideas and moments here but it really needs some tlc. 2/5

This would’ve been great if everything were not broken when we went. It’s a really cool room with fun puzzles… if they weren’t all broken. It had to have been at least 25% of the puzzles with issues. We’d ask for clues and we’d keep getting them for things already solved, but the trigger failed. Many things ultimately manually triggered by the host and one of the last clues was “you already solved that, just reach up and behind this thing and pull it out cause it’s supposed to fall” They might have fixed things since I went in 2023, but I was pretty sad with the state of the room.

fun theme! I like clocks and I liked several of the puzzles. I will say, game play was a bit stymied by some pieces that need some love . some puzzles we did and drawer didn't open, etc.

Listen, I have done over 70 escape rooms at this point. I love them. This is the first one I will give a bad review to. The game-master was terrible and kept telling us we needed to do something else when the order would not have mattered. We entered a certain code about 10 times with them telling us we must not be doing it right until finally out loud we said exactly what we were doing and the letters we were entering as we entered them, and then the GM triggered the clue to work. You also had to have outside knowledge in our opinion. We were so frustrated by the whole thing it lost any magic of the normal escape room. We won’t ever go back to this location.

One of my favorites

Everything was a stretch, tech didn’t work and puzzles were in the room to make the room hard but had nothing to do with story. I felt a lot of the puzzles were trial and error and no clear progression from puzzle to puzzle. The props were old and warn out. I don’t understand how this room won awards. It is a shame as the other rooms at this location are fun. This was unfortunately one of the worst experiences I have had in an escape room.
