250 escape rooms
Houdini’s Workshop by Mystery Avenue was the first room of the day and the 7th game of our NL/BE escape tour 2026, played with the same team of three. This one came highly recommended by the owner of The Movies back in 2024, who had originally built it and later sold it. After revisiting the updated version, he mentioned how impressed he was with the improvements, so expectations were a bit high. The location has private parking, which is always a bonus. The owner/designer/GM was very welcoming, and even accommodated us when we arrived an hour early, which set a great tone from the start. The waiting area is cozy and inviting. From there, you can partially see the exterior structure of the room itself, and they’ve mentioned plans to further refine the entrance and cover the top section to enhance immersion. It’s clear they’re still investing in upgrades. The experience begins with a nice twist, and the opening space immediately pulls you into the world of Houdini. The puzzles were varied, thematic, and genuinely fun, integrating well with the magician theme. Lighting and sound supported the atmosphere nicely, and the flow felt smooth throughout. Overall, a pleasant surprise and very enjoyable experience. The improvements have clearly paid off, and it’s easy to see why it was recommended.
